Kainoa's, as the locals know it, is a very unique place. Visit the place in the morning and you will find a place that rivals IHOP, get there at night and you will find a bar that many have called their second home. Regardless of when you decide to check out Kainoa's you won't be disappointed.

The reason that I personally go to Kainoa's is for the food. You get great food at a dirt-cheap price. And believe me if you are visiting Hawaii, deals are something you will be looking for, as everything else gets very expensive.

For fewer than six dollars you can get a stack of banana and strawberry pancakes. Three pancakes topped with mouth watering bananas, strawberries and whipped cream. If you are not a pancake person then try out their two eggs any style breakfast. Aside from the eggs you can get rice, fried rice or hash browns and a choice of bacon, ham, SPAM (an island favorite), Portuguese sausage, Vienna sausage, pork links or corned beef hash. Of course there are tons of other things on the menu like a veggie omelet or steak and eggs or pork chops, but try out more of the unique stuff like the fried SPAM or Portuguese sausage. Not a SPAM person? That's okay just give the other stuff a shot.

In the evening you can come back to hang out and drink cheap pitchers of beer or play some pool. As far as I know this is the only bar on the north shore that currently has pool tables so if you are into that kind of stuff then this is for you. The crowd is usually a mix of people. As with any place though, be sure to be respectful of others as you may find yourself on the losing end of a fight.

Overall I like Kainoa's because of the breakfast menu and the cheap prices. It also doubles as a bar, which makes it a unique hang out for many locals in the area as well as tourists driving through the town and looking for a place to eat in the morning or a place to drink in the evening.

Located a few doors from a bank and ATM, you will never be short on cash as it is a very affordable place. If you are looking for good pancakes or a good beer at a fair price then look no further than Kainoa's in Haleiwa.
