Kampgrounds of America (KOA) Announces New Girl and Boy Scout Camping Program
KOA Offers Lower Costs for Scouting Troops to Go Camping
KOA has just announced that groups of at least five Scouts and one troop leader can receive a special rate of $5 per/individual on tent and RV sites. If a cabin is desired, groups can take advantage of a special 10% discount on KOA Kabin, Kottage and Lodge rentals at participating campgrounds. As an added bonus, KOA includes use of their group pavilions and other facilities when a Scouting troop decides to hold their campout at a KOA campground.
"We are so proud to offer a program that provides Scouts with more opportunities to experience the joys of the outdoors," says Jim Rogers, KOA's Chief Executive Officer. Rogers, one of 10 Eagle Scouts in his family, knows that Scouting is all about personal growth. "There are many things a Scout can experience on campgrounds that will enhance that growth," he said in a KOA press release.
An important part of the Scout camping experience is earning the important badges that every Scout needs. KOA's campgrounds offer the perfect setting for many of these badges to be earned: camping, hiking, fishing, insect study, wilderness survival, bird study, swimming, canoeing, fire safety, nature, forestry, and emergency preparedness, to name just a few.
If camping in a tent is on the agenda, the Scouting troop can look forward to several conveniences to make it a bit easier. There are hot showers, clean restrooms, picnic tables, and water spouts. Some tenting sites even have kitchen access and wireless internet!
The cabin and lodge rentals obviously offer more amenities than the tenting option. Depending on what facility is chosen, Scout troops can enjoy kitchens, bathrooms, extra space, and heating/air conditioning. Although this isn't exactly "roughing it," it is an excellent option for larger Scouting groups.
Victor Arsenault, owner of the Canandaigua/Rochester KOA says, "Scouting and camping just go hand-in-hand. By being able to provide more opportunities for Scouts in our area is a wonderful way to introduce KOA to future generations."
