Kansas City 2011 Schedule Game-By-Game Picks, Overview of AFC West Final Standings

Gary Davis
We're ready to finish the AFC West. It will be the third division we've gone through, joining the NFC South and the AFC South. The Kansas City Chiefs won the AFC West in 2010 with a 10-6 record. How will they do in 2011 and how will the division end?

I'll be using per usual FB Schedules Website the "2011 Kansas City Chiefs football Schedule." Will the Chiefs repeat?

The Kansas City Chiefs against the AFC West:

Since I've already done the 2011 schedules for the Raiders, Denver Broncos and Chargers, the Kansas City record is already "pre-determined." Kansas City will split with all three teams in the AFC West for a 3-3 record.

The Kansas City Chiefs on the road against non-divisional teams:

The Chiefs play on the road Buffalo, Miami, Indianapolis, Detroit and Minnesota. I believe the Kansas City Chiefs will beat the Buffalo Bills and the Miami Dolphins and lose to the Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings and Indianapolis Colts. They will finish 2-3.

The Kansas City Chiefs against non-divisional teams at home:

Kansas City hosts New England, Jets, Bears, Steelers and Packers. I think the Chiefs are going to have a rough time at home, losing to the Bears, Packers and Patriots. They will beat the Jets and upset the Steelers. This leaves them 2-3 at home and helps ruin their season.

Where does that leave the Chiefs? According to my picks in this 2011 world, the Chiefs end up in third place with a 7-9 record.

I think this is going to happen for two reasons. I believe the Kansas City Chiefs over-achieved a bit in 2010. Finally, I think the way they lost to the Packers will stay with them and give them a down year.

AFC West recap:

Looking back at the numbers, we see San Diego has taken the division with a 10-6 record. The Raiders are second with an 8-8 record. Kansas City will drop to third with their 7-9 record and the Broncos will do a touch better with a 6-10 record.

I think the one thing to watch is Oakland. They could do better than predicted.

The Chiefs are fairly predictable - good call!
