Although last year it appeared he could be in the first round of draft picks, it is more likely to be early in the second round that he will be snatched up due to some inconsistencies in his playing. It appears that he does have the potential to learn a better focus once in the NFL to help him accomplish greater goals. Keep in mind that this young man may still learn a few things since he decided to leave Kansas State after his junior season to head to the NFL based on the feedback he received from the NFL's College Advisory Board. If it wasn't as reasonable as it turned out, he probably would have stayed at Kansas State for another season.
Here are some stats that you can compare to other players. He has thrown for 44 touchdowns to date, however 20 of those were in the 2008 season. We also have to consider the 34 interceptions he threw. Also, in 2008, he attempted 382 passes and completed 224 for a total of 2,945 yards. He appears to have an incredibly strong arm, however his record for turnovers could be one of his biggest obstacles.
According to nfldraftscout.com, he is currently ranked at #3 for a second round pick. He's got his work cut out for him and will have to out shine several others during the combine and interview processes. If he can impress and make it in the first round draft pick, I think New York Jets could likely snatch him up to take over for Brett Favre. However, with a new coach and a new outlook, I wouldn't mind seeing a fresh face that could learn with our new coach right here in Tampa with the Buccaneers which could be where he lands if New York doesn't take him.
