Kansas vs. Villanova Preview

Midwest Regional Tipoff 9:40 Eastern Time

The sweet sixteen match-up between the Kansas Jayhawks and the Villanova Wildcats may come as a surprise to many being that the Wildcats are only a twelve seed. However they are well disciplined team with a very talented point guard in Scottie Reynolds, but this poses no threat to the well balanced Jayhawks. Kansas has a plethora of ball handlers in Brandon Rush, Mario Chalmers, Russell Robinson, and Sherron Collins.

Kansas should be able to break the pressure with ease and get up and down the floor like they want to. The Wildcats will want to trap and slow down the pace of the game, but this has been a challenge to all teams opposing the Kansas Jayhawks this season. The abundance of big men in the post causes worries to the smaller Villanova Wildcats. Kansas will run their patented high-low offense through the post players Darrell Arthur, Darnell Jackson, Sasha Kaun, and the freshman Cole Aldrich.

The Wildcats are fighting an uphill battle against the one of the nation's powerhouses and premiere dynasties in college basketball. With the game being held in Detroit, Michigan there should be a great number of Kansas fans that make the trip from Lawrence to watch Bill Self attempt to make his first appearance in the final four. The Villanova fans will be greatly outnumbered even though Philadelphia is not an enormous distance away from Detroit.

Look for the crowd of crimson and blue to spark a fire underneath the Jayhawks in the first ten minutes and throughout the entire game. Kansas is going to go straight for the throat and take control immediately leaving Villanova stunned and clawing their way out of a bottomless pit. In conclusion the Kansas Jayhawks have much more depth, experience, and talent than the rebuilding Villanova Wildcats. Kansas will win this game by atleast twenty points and use it as a springboard into the elite eight match up with the winner of Davidson versus Wisconsin.

Score Prediction: Kansas 83 Villanova 59

83-59 I dont think so. I could see it being 85-79. But nova has never lost that bad once this year. Not even to better teams like Georgetown. Even beating tough teams like Unconn, Pitt, and West virginia.

Kansas may have freaks and the #1 seed but villanova plays in the big east!! Kansas only plays a few good teams. 9 teams in the big east made the tourny. 5 of the teams in the Big 12 suck and there only 12 teams in the big 12. That and they have faced way bigger teams than kansas!! In the end it will be a close game!!

yo if you think that reynolds is their only good player your wrong. if that was it they wouldnt be in the sweet sixteen right now. so dont be thinkin that kansas is going to blow them away by 20. your wrong.

Oh my God, what a homer you are. You have not been watching Nova basketball these last 4 years if you think a team like Kansas, with a history of choking in the clutch, is going to beat Nova by 20 points just because they have a bunch of freaks on their team.
