Kanye West Arrested in England on Charges of Assault Against Paparazzi

Another Run-in for Kanye West with the Paparazzi

Reports from London say rapper Kanye West, 31, was arrested early Friday after allegedly assaulting a member of the paparazzi outside of the Tup Tup Palace bar in Newcastle, which is in northern England. Kanye West arrested on suspicion of assault and was later released without charge.

Kanye West - No Stranger to Paparazzi Assault

Kanye West was arrested at the Los Angeles airport LAX in September on charges of felony vandalism after allegedly confronting a photographer. There was a struggle between the photographer and Kanye West, and it ended when West smashed the photographer's camera.

Another cameraman from TMZ videotaped Kanye West in the act as he broke the first camera, and West's bodyguard approached the TMZ cameraman and demanded the camera. When the TMZ cameraman refused, the bodyguard, Don Crowley, then smashed that camera as well. You can view the video TMZ captured here.

West was detained by police before he was able to board his American Airlines' flight. Both Kayne West and Don Crowley were booked and released on bail.

Kanye West not the only celeb to attack paparazzi

Rocker Avril Lavigne was caught on tape spitting on paparazzi.

Chris Martin of the band Coldplay was also caught on video assaulting a member of the paparazzi. Martin attacked a photographer outside a New York hospital in early 2008. The Coldplay lead singer was also arrested in Australia in 2003 after vandalizing a photographer's vehicle. Those charges were later dropped.

Singer Bjork, like Kanye West, assaulted paparazzi in an airport. In 1996, Bjork beat up a reporter in an airport in Bangkok. Bjork also had a run-in with a photographer in a New Zealand airport in early 2008.

Actor Sean Penn has been quoted as saying, "I still think photographers should be lashed out at. They should be put in a cage where you can poke them with a stick for a quarter. But not in a hostile way, just for giggles. They really are on the attack against mankind; it's a disease. They should be helped somewhere. But I'd still like to poke them with a stick."

Sean Penn is so notorious for assaulting the paparazzi that when celebrities hit back, it's known in the trade as 'doing a Sean Penn'. In 1986, the actor was charged with attempted murder while shooting the movie 'Shanghai Surprise' after hanging a paparazzi photographer by his ankles out of a 9-story window. Sean Penn and his assistant were arrested but escaped from the Portuguese prison. They were later acquitted.

While I don't agree with the methods of the paparazzi and feel they should be stopped from hounding people I did think the article was excellent.
    Thanks

You know, I favor stronger laws regarding the paparazzi. They chase people to their deaths in the case of Princess Diana and I would imagine that celebs get sick of the constant intrusion in their lives, though most would say they get what they pay for by seeking celebrity status. These paparazzi folks can hound you like a dog and I am sure it gets old having people with total disregard for personal space, always trying to get a shot that sells papers for them.
