Kanye West Disses Taylor Swift in the Middle of Her VMA Acceptance Speech

In a display of arrogance and being too needy for attention, Kanye West has made another controversial appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards. Russel Brand's usual lewdness couldn't even outshine Kanye West's stunt. Even Lady Gaga's blood soaked performance looked tame in comparison. And I want to know, "Who does Kanye West think he is?"

The fiasco began when Taylor Swift accepted the VMA for 'Best Female Video' for her song "You Belong To Me". In the middle of her acceptance speech, Kanye West storms the stage and takes the microphone from Taylor. From there he tells the audience that Beyonce should have won the award. He then shoves the microphone back to Taylor Swift, who is stunned and very speechless. Beyonce even had a look of shock on her face and could not have been very entertained by Kanye's antics.

That's when the audience of the VMAs falls into an awkward silence before erupting into cheers for Taylor Swift. Throughout the night, every time Kanye West's name was mentioned the crowd either groaned or was close to silence. But I sat through the show in the comfort of my own home, disgusted and slightly in disbelief.

Did I just see that?
Was I supposed to see that?

Of course, on MTV the show must go on, no matter how many times Kanye West appears and tries to stop it.

Clearly it was a stunt on his part, a sad plea for attention. Yet was it necessary to embarrass Taylor Swift and Beyonce in one comment? I'm not a big fan of either artist, but I do like to give respect where respect is due. Taylor Swift has proved to be more than some teeny bopper rung out from some machine. She has a very admirable talent, so much so that she won the award over a seasoned artist such as Beyonce. That is quite an accomplishment and deserves to be treated as such. Yet we can't forget Beyonce for being so gracious to Taylor Swift and letting her have her moment when it was clearly Beyonce's.

So here's to you Taylor Swift. You handled the situation beautifully. Your recognition is deserved. And Beyonce, you're amazing for giving Taylor Swift what she deserved. I only hope to see more moments like that during my life.

Kanye West could use a clue. His constant arrogance and inconsideration for anyone outside of himself is overshadowing whatever talent he might possess. I don't even know what Kanye West is capable of, he's done too much talking about nothing and it has turned me off. Sure, Kanye West is allowed to disagree, but the middle of someone's acceptance speech is not the place to do so. He should take a look at what Beyonce did for Taylor Swift and learn a little RESPECT.
