Kanye West Uses Twitter to Apologize to Taylor Swift, Again
Will There Be a Moment of Forgivness at the MTV VMA's?
Kanye made headlines around the world and on websites such as Twitter and Facebook when he stepped on stage during Swift's speech, grabbed her mic and said, 'Yo Taylor, I'm really happy for you, I'ma Let you finish, but Beyonce has one of the best videos of all time! Of all time!' before throwing the microphone at Swift, shrugging and walking off stage. The rant spawned a barrage of jokes and memes immediately after the show aired through website 4chan and its /b/ board, even President Barack Obama weighed in in an off hand remark calling Kanye West a Jackass.
But all of that was nearly a year ago. Kanye has since made apologies on programs such as The Tonight Show with Jay Leno where he admitted his mother Donda West would have been disappointed in him if she saw what he did, and MTV. He also issued several apologies after the incident claiming the alcohol he had been drinking that night made him jump on stage.
On Saturday West took to his Twitter account not only to apologize, but to also give his version of what his life has been like since the now infamous incident. Kanye first thanked Twitter creator Biz Stone and CEO Evan Williams for giving him a platform to ask forgiveness from Taylor Swift then tweeted, "When I woke up from the crazy nightmare I looked in the mirror and said GROW UP KANYE ... I take responsibility for my actions."
While Kanye West may be sincere in his remorse over the incident many critics are calling the timing of his tweets suspect since the MTV Video Music Awards are only days away and West is sure to bump into Taylor Swift at the show. Insiders with the show have also hinted there may be a moment between the two on stage if Taylor agrees to it. Other critics say Taylor Swift moved on from the incident hours after it happened, so why can't Kanye?
Kanye sent out about a dozen tweets over a two-hour period that included him telling Taylor he wrote a song for her, saying, "[It's] so beautiful and I want her to have it. If she won't take it then I'll perform it for her." Speaking directly to fans who have hinted Kanye might try to pull off another stage crashing, "With new found humility ... who am I to run on stage? I would never ever again in a million years do that. Sorry to let you down." But at the end of the series of tweets West made one final message clear, "I'm sorry, Taylor."
