What Kanye West did at the MTV Video Music Awards to Taylor Swift just shows how arrogant, self-centered, and rude he is! You can read what MSNBC quoted Kanye West saying, his idea of an apology, on Jay Leno.
Kanye West's statements were not only inarticulate, but once again self-centered. He mentioned never taken time off, which sounded like an excuse to me. West also mentioned his hurt, which sounded like an attempt to take the outpour of sympathy for Swift and redirect it on himself. Then he went on to talk about his dream, this one is the oddest, of what award shows are supposed to be. What is his dream? Hearing his name, seeing himself getting up on stage and getting an award, and then giving his acceptance speech. Which would probably sound something like this: I would say thank you but I know I deserve this, after all I am better than anyone else. (pun intended)
However, on a serious note, Kanye West said he knew he was wrong...when he was bathed in boos. And later MTV reported he flipped the crowd when he left the stage because they began clapping for Taylor Swift. Is he for real? Let's say there were no boos, let's go a step further and say he got a standing ovation, in his mind would that have made what he did right. More importantly would he be apologizing?
One thing I agree with he does need analyzing, but by a professional. This guy has some serious anger issues, and he needs to get help controlling himself. Who does West think he is, he has opinions, we all do, but that doesn't give Kanye a license to attack photographers, accuse a President of the United States of America of not caring about black people during a telethon after one of the most devastating hurricanes, Katrina, or storm on stage whenever he feels like it; Kanye West is an out of control ticking time bomb, and he needs to be stopped.
As far as being a rapper, he has talent, but there are a lot of more talented rappers than Kanye West. Yes, like everyone else, I have my favorites. The 5 Rappers I'd nominate and give an award to over Kanye West any day include:
2Pac: The number one rapper of all time no question about it! May he R.I.P. His music and lyrics were unbelievable, he was honest, and showed raw emotion. Tupac Shakur rapped about life, politics, and reality in a very intelligent way. 2Pac took his talent to the big screen, in Juice he played the tough guy, and in Poetic Justice he played a more sensitive caring guy...if he was alive today he would have went on to do bigger and greater things.
Jay-Z: A very talented, and intelligent rapper. Jay-Z is a wise business man. He carries himself like a man, and is respected.
Lil Wayne: Tattoos or not he has earned the title of the number one rapper today. Talent, talent, and more talent. His fans are from all walks of life and all races.
Snoop Dog: What can I say about Snoop...love him. This man has been in the rap game for years, and he is great at what he does. He has matured, and turned his life around. I respect this man, Snoops love and dedication for his wife and children is sincere; no matter how many women are in his videos.
Eminem: He can rap about anything, make life seem funny, and use his lyrics to tell stories in a way no on else can. He has pure talent, and no one can deny Slim Shady that.
Celebrity or not, Kanye West needs to be held accountable for his actions, and apologizing just won't cut it for me. Until he gets professional help, shows a consistent pattern of controlling his anger and actions, he doesn't deserve to be forgiven. In this world you have to earn respect. I don't know if that bottle he was so proudly holding had anything to do with his behavior, he may eventually use it as an excuse, but with an attitude and temper like his Kanye West probably shouldn't be drinking. Just my opinion.
