Karen Leon, 52, of Memphis MO Dies in Fatal Head on Collision

April 8, 2010 - At 5:00 a.m. Karen E. Leon, 52 year old female from Memphis, Missouri died in a fatal car crash in Scotland County, Missouri. Karen was driving a 1999 Lexus Eastbound on US 136 on the West Edge of Memphis when she crossed the center line and struck a 1989 International Semi truck driven by 60 year old, male driver, William L. Merideth from Keokuk, Iowa. Merideth was headed westbound.

The truck driver sustained only minor injuries while Karen Leon died on the scene at 5:38 a.m. She was pronounced dead by Scotland County Coroner and transported to Payne Funeral Home. Merideth was transported by Scotland County Ambulance to Scotland County Memorial Hospital for examination. Troop B of the Missouri Highway State Patrol did not comment on what caused the female driver to cross the centerline.
