Karen's Garden

This time of year that she loves the best,
the spring and summer, you can keep the rest.
She's waited all winter for this weekend in spring,
Saturday is the day she'll go plant shopping.
This is the beginning of when she knows,
that starting today her garden grows.
The time has come for that annual spring event,
to go to the nursery where her extra money will be spent.
She says she's going for garden supplies that are near,
and I will remark "whatever dear".
She will take many hours choosing the perfect ones,
like picking children out for adoption.
She turns the soil and loosens the earth,
and plants the seeds for their birth.

Her plants are like family all loved in different ways,
she's made a home for them in her special place.
To escape from reality in the garden once more,
or is the garden the reality she yearns for?
The garden is a serene place away from the crowds,
only conflict here today would be dark clouds.
There are four ingredients she needs today,
the earth, the seeds, water and sunrays.
And in this garden what she'll grow naturally,
is healthy natural dose of psychology.

When in the garden she gains much ambition,
and from these plants she will take nutrition.
Feeling like a giant sowing the seeds,
how nice it looks without all those weeds.
Up goes the fencing to keep the animals out,
if any near the garden you will hear her shout.
For the rule of gardening Mother Nature has said,
plants are for all and animals must be fed.

It's a little like magic how this all works,
as she adds some water with a squirt.
For this day is timeless and for her that's a fact,
after working all day never complained about her back.
Now the plantings done and this garden will be,
the place she comes home to every day to see.
