Karma, Numerology and Your Birth Name

Does Your Birth Name Reflect in Any Way Your Karma?

Stephen Marshall
In our physical existence and within our life, karma is responsible for the position that we are currently in. Our karma can be known from certain characteristics that are indicative of the karmic load or directive stimulant of this force of karma in our lives on our present incarnation.

One of these indicative elements is our actual birth name and our birth date. They contains hidden clues to show us some of the karma that we have brought into this current life with to now to work on, and to try to resolve.

In this article I will endeavour to show how our present level of karma, or our karmic load is being shown within the actual name that we have been given by our parents to go through our life with this time around. Even more so than this all of our present tendencies and ways of behaviour being presently governed and largely controlled by this karma are revealed from examining our life path number.

Everything about us is always linked to our karma, from our sex type to the physical shape and condition of our body, and even including here our intellect. These numbers reveal all.

Karma is resulting from our past actions, and the connections inherent in your present karma are those that are connected to other souls to which you have acted in the past without total unconditional love. Any time that you act from a lesser degree of love than total unconditional love, karma is created.

Your name doesn't influence your karma, but it shows a simple type of connective karmic assertive thrust that your parents have given to you from their associative karmic links to you in summing you up in the name that they have picked or chosen for you.

This is even more so with your live path number. The numbers add up the story of your life up until now as can be read within the analysis of your life path numbers that accurately describe it for you.

In this way your name does show the karma that your parents think that you carry, and psychically this links to your karma as they have actually consulted with you on the inner planes to pick this matching name that will thread the needle of karma for you within this current life.

The simple digit sum of the number of letters in your name is linked to the birth number, or to your life path number.

In numerology, our birth or life path number is the most important number to calculate.

Our life path number basically depicts exactly who we were right now at the time or moment of our birth. It will indicate to us what our strengths, abilities, and life purpose might have been indicating for us for this coming life at that time. This most important number can show us some of the things that we must face and learn from, and also points out to us the karmic lessons that we must try to take on board this time around.

In short this amounts to our goals and life challenges that we might be faced with, or even challenged by in this incoming incarnation of ours. This number is a sketch of your existing character as it stands at this point in time.

Perhaps an example might help to clarify how this all works for us all.

We will take the name: Joshua Daniel Patterson, who was born on the date of May 16 1961.

To obtain Joshua's birth or life path number, we simply add together the numbers within his birth date. We add the numbers as follows.

The number 5 for the month, + (1+6)=7 for the day, and then + (1+9+6+1)=17 for the year. This comes down to, 5+7+17= 29. Finally reducing even this number down as follows 2+9 =11, we obtain Joshua's birth number. This is a special number and it is not usually reduced any further.

The numbers 11, 22 and 33 are not reduced however, being considered to be master numbers by most numerologists. All other numbers are reduced down to their single digit number. This will be of course, be a number between 1 and 9. Sometimes the number 44 is included as a master number as well. These numbers carry a stronger vibration and usually mean that we will be able to learn more quickly from our life experiences. This means in some cases, that karma will be more readily faced, experienced, learned from and then moved on from.

Joshua's birth or life path number is then the number 11. For our purposes here though, we will still reduce this number down further to the number 2.

The other number that is obtained from the sum of the number of letters in your name is called by the masters your destiny number, or your psychic number, and it is linked to the karma inherent within your birth name.

The number of letters in Joshua's name is +6 for his first name, plus another +6 for his middle name, and finally + 9 for his surname. This totals to the number 21, which reduces further down to the number 3.

If these two numbers match exactly, your name is perfectly depicting your karma.

The further away that they are in numerical length the more the name is not fully depicting the karmic load that is balancing itself within you at this time of birth and also being matched to the numerical conditions of the world's karma at the time of your birth.

I mean here that we all inwardly know our own karmic lessons for this coming life, but if the vibrations of our energy are affected away from the perfect position of balance needed to learn directly our lessons, we might be influenced away more by not being then as readily our real and true selves.

In this way we would not be directly following or completing our own lessons, but more be being sidetracked away into following another person, be it some type of religious leader, or even a parent, if they are such a powerful and magnetic presence in our lives. We need to really rebalance ourselves and only try to learn our own lessons by being and living more completely only as our own self within our own life.

The birth or life path number then is the digit sum of all of the numbers in your birth date.

The birth name, expression or destiny number is sometimes found more complexively from matching numbers from the alphabet to the letters in your name. But this is an approximation only, because all alphabets are not the same, and the simple more accurate comparative number to use is simply the total digit sum of the number of letters in your full name.

In this other method, the letter A in the English alphabet is linked to the number one, the letter B to number 2, and right through to the letter Z, which is given the number 26. You calculate all of the corresponding numbers that match each letter in your name, and simply add all the numbers together to obtain finally a single digit, or a master number once more again.

This expression or destiny number is indicative of the overall direction of your life for this lifetime. It represents and shows you not so much your overall purpose, but more the way that you will reach it. It indicates the different goals or opportunities that will be presented to you to give you the chance to move into the direction of your real lifetime purpose or your main reason of incarnating for this incarnation.

In short, it is presenting you with the lessons of karma that will be most relevant for you to work on and to learn from and then to move past within this coming life.

Normally in numerology each number has a particular already defined meaning similar to the different astrological signs that you can look up to read more about what your own particular numbers might mean.

In the basic article though, I am just indicating the existence of a basic connection between these two numbers.

Everything is always linked in this way. Everything reduces fundamentally always again to a oneness. When these numbers indicate a difference, the difference from this oneness or from equality, simply shows you that you still have a degree of karma to work through.

In this simple way, you can calculate your soul's position now on its journey or life path. You can assess your current position from your name and your birth date to ascertain where you are positioned in relation to the amount of karma that you are still carrying.

Your name and the date of your birth, your parents, the country that you are born in, your sex male or female, all of these factors remember are determined by your karma. In the reverse all of these karmas of other people, including your countries karma and even the World's karma also have an influence on your own individual life.

The contributing effects of all of these karma's can be seen and worked out for exactly what they are from examining these types of influences in relation to the specific time and place of your birth, and to the name that has been chosen for you at that time.

Your soul is responsible for setting all of these variables as it agrees with the higher masters working for God about the role that you will play in this coming life and the best way for you to be given the chance to learn from the karma that you are still carrying. You must learn first from karma before moving past it. Each lesson must be fully learned before the next lesson or step forwards can be taken.

The sound of your name is also linked to your karma, and chanting or singing your own name will often help to reconnect you to your soul purpose or lifetime lessons for this current life.

The particular sounds are linked to the letters, and the way that they are matched and connected together links to your karma in such a way that it provides a sort of key to the chain that is locked up by your karma. This karmic chain prevents you from seeing the real you, and so you only see the karmic load that you carry into a life instead. You do not see the wood for the trees. You don't see past your karma to the truth behind it that it is trying to lead you towards. Karma is of course our teacher, and is only ever in the end helping us to grow in ourselves as ourselves.

When you simply honour your own name by chanting softly the letters of it in a continuous rhythmic pattern starting from the first letter and working through your full name or sometimes stopping only with your first name, this is a useful meditative technique to practice. This simple technique will start to unravel your karma for you and show you the soul patterns of learning that are being needed to be learned by you right now.

Alternatively you can perform the normal chanting method by chanting the syllables of your own name more as in the long drawn out traditional methods.

The purpose of all of life, and for each soul's journey is to learn more about love, and to grow more in its knowledge and wisdom of love from its experiences within life. Karma is not so much a burden to carry then as it is more only your curriculum, or a method of learning. As you freely progress along your own unique path towards living only from full unconditional love and from a conscious level where you now understand where you are coming from, you will see again your own part in the oneness of the infinite division into separate souls, all from still within God's body.

Our name reflects our karma or our possible future life path. Even if we change our name, this will not alter our karma, but it will reflect the growth in us that has allowed for us to even reach such a position of thinking that we might need to change our name. Everything serves us, and even this dramatic step of altering our name might sometimes serve us when it is necessary to do so.

Our name carries within it the energy of vibration of our present level of consciousness. This is also a description of our karmic level. Our level of consciousness is simply our karmic level as well. If we change our name we can alter the vibration that we are coming from in the same way as swearing and using angry words lowers our vibration negatively.

Nothing can be sidestepped however and there are no short cuts past our karma until we learn the corresponding lessons of love that we need to learn. Sometimes our parents might have their own agendas for us and this vibrationary forcing of a direction for us can even be started from the names that they choose for us. In this way we might feel restricted or separated away from our own true energy, vibration and spiritual personage.

We always need to be our own person, and sometimes if the influence of our parents has overshadowed us, taking on a new name might help to reconnect us again to our true inner selves. This is why the masters over time have often give a new name to their disciples or followers, or even given them a new spiritual name altogether.

We all have such an inner spiritual name that we have taken on and that vibrates most specially for us as us as our own particular individual soul. Maybe from practicing this meditation of using this simple technique of chanting the letters in your present name, you might remember or have revealed to you, your real inner name.

If you do you will find a certain resonance to this name and it will seem to fit you in such a way that you will now feel more comfortable, and more accepting of your true position within God's Universe.

Names and numbers describe you as you, but never let them limit you to be who you can become. Analysis and description are good pointers towards the direction in which you should be living in, but life is to be lived, and not to be over analysed. Never be so attached to the descriptions of yourself obtained from numerology and other divining tools or psychic advice that you miss the real opportunity to be the real you.

Your name is important, but more important is the nameless one living within you as love. Language is a description of our intelligence or consciousness living within life.

Does our personality and character, and our karma fit our name and life path number to be received and owned by us as ours, or does our name and life path number more actually help to form our character and our personality? Which comes first us, or our name and number? Can we be mismatched to our name, or to our life path number?

Nothing is ever mismatched, and you name and life path number always serves its purpose for you to be you.

If you calculate your own life path number, you will notice if you examine your life up until now, that this very important number has a great influence on the karma associated with your life.

For example, if our life path number is calculated to be the number 4, when we examine our whole life, we will notice that every four years a major karmic change has happened to us, or for us in our lives. The number 4 is allocating our karma in a way to us, and in a logical way based on our ability to learn in relation to our established pattern of learning or our personality style make up. We learn best based on our own individual soul's particular gifts.

When this purpose is fulfilled you can progress to change your name and life path number by either being reborn, or perhaps you might now join a religious movement and actually take on a new name. This is like being reborn again into the same body with a new vibrational energy, and direction of love operating in you now taking you further along to yourself into a greater understanding of this love.

  • Your birth name reflects the vibration of the karma that your soul is currently holding onto.
Karma is calmer when you understand it from its relationship to numbers. It will all add up for you then.
