Kate Gosselin on Larry King Live: She's Lonely and Misunderstood

Kate Gosselin of "Jon and Kate Plus 8" appeared alone on CNN's "Larry King Live" Tuesday evening and told the host that she was "lonely." Kate Gosselin has been making the talk show rounds for the past couple weeks after her reality show re-emerged from a network-imposed hiatus (because of intense public scrutiny and criticism of airing the show while their marital difficulties had them filing for divorce). She told Larry King that the police incident last week was blown completely out of proportion to what actually occurred. In fact Kate Gosselin is finding that much of her life is being blown completely out of proportion.

Like having her on every major talk show in the country and lending her and her fans a false sense of relevance.

But she has been getting the tabloid treatment for some time now. And, relevant or not, that can't be a good thing for anyone, running around putting out tabloid fires. Like her diva-like behavior behind the scenes at the "Today Show."

The Chicago Sun-Times reported that an inside source relayed to them that Kate Gosselin was cursing "like a sailor" back stage at the "Today Show" two weeks ago. They also reported that she was downing Meredith Vieiria for asking her questions about her relationship with her bodyguard, Steve Neild.

But Kate Gosselin denied it all. And the "Today Show" backed her up, releasing a statement: "These comments are completely and totally false and are certainly coming from bad sources. Kate Gosselin was a gracious guest on "Today" and anyone within a thousand feet of her at the show yesterday morning could tell you that."

The statement also said: "It is unfortunate that a newspaper (the Sun-Times) would run these lies, which couldn't be further from the truth."

After that was all settled, headlines flared that Kate Gosselin called the cops on Jon Gosselin and his newest girlfriend, Stephanie Santoro, when she was supposed to be with the "Plus 8" kids last week. Gossip sites like The Hollywood Gossip indicated that Kate Gosselin found out that Jon was planning on leaving the children in the care of Stephanie Santoro, someone Kate Gosselin apparently has trust issues with, not to mention issues regarding Stephanie Santoro's and Jon's sleeping arrangements. After Kate showed up at the house, she and Jon got into a heated argument and Kate called the police, according to the article.

The police stayed all of about 10 minutes, The Hollywood Gossip reported. Kate would later leave and check into a nearby Days Inn.

Larry King, after saying that the papers said Jon Gosselin had accused her of "crying it up" for the cops, asked her version of the story.

Kate Gosselin told Larry King that that was not at all what occurred, that it never got out of hand. She said she called the police only as a precaution. She said she didn't call 911 and she asked the police to meet her there (at her house, where Jon Gosselin was for the weekend, which is part of the visitation agreement they have). "Well, number one, the tabloid and the whole media mess always makes it worse than it is. Remember that. It actually was not this huge fight. It was just a thing where I wanted to be there with the kids and -- as opposed to a babysitter. And he wasn't fond of that idea.

"And I just had a very rough day. I have good days and bad days. This day was a rough day. I just wanted to be with the kids if he wasn't going to be with them. And I did. I did. It was not a 911 call. It was the local routine police phone call."

She said that the kids hadn't been there at all.

Imagine that. A strange woman -- a younger woman -- watching Kate's eight children in her house that was bought with the money made from "Jon and Kate Plus 8", a show she starred in with her husband -- now her almost ex-husband. Perhaps there was some jealousy, some anger that Jon might have a little more than a platonic companionship in mind for his weekend in the house that Kate Gosselin lives in all but a couple days a month (when Jon has his visitations). Maybe that is what was actually going on.

But that might be unfair.

Wouldn't want Kate Gosselin defending herself against this article on her next visit to "Live with Regis and Kelly." (Because, if one recalls, she said she couldn't see her and Jon getting back together.)

And was there a mention that Kate Gosselin told Larry King she was lonely?
