Kate Gosselin on the 'Today Show' Discussing Jon's Affair Allegations

Kate Gosselin make an appearance on the Today show this morning. Kate Gosselin's appearance on the Today show was originally scheduled to promote her new book "Eight Little Faces". Due to all of the recent allegations about her husband cheating, Kate had no choice but to address them to Meredith Viera.

Kate said, "I'm very hesitant to believe any of it." She also said, "We just need to weather this storm, just like all the other storms that we've been through."

Jon Gosselin and all 8 kids were scheduled to be on the Today show but, Jon & Kate changed plans at the last minute. Jon did issue a statement to the Today show that says, "These allegations are false and just plain hurtful."

He added: "As I adjust to the attention that comes from being in the public eye, I need to be more careful and aware of who I am associating with and where I am spending my time. But the bottom line is, I did not cheat on Kate. I am sorry for putting my family in this awkward position, given some poor decisions and bad judgments I've made recently. I am working through this difficult time with my family. My family is my top priority."

The magazine claims that Deanna Hummel and Jon Gosselin have been having an affair for three months. Deanna Hummel is a 23-year-old third grade teacher. The magazine also published photos showing Jon and Deanna together.

Jon Gosselin is not the first person to have cheating allegations plastered on every gossip website and tabloid magazine.

One time presidential candidate John Edwards had a very publicized affair with Rielle Hunter. John's affair has once again made national news after his wife, Elizabeth Edwards discuss the affair in her new book called "Reflections". Elizabeth also recently made stops on the Oprah show and the Today show. President Bill Clinton had an affair with Monica Lewinsky. New York's Ex-Governor, Eliot Spitzer was married when the news of his prostitution scandal emerged. Detroit's Ex-Mayor, Kwame Kilpatrick had an affair with his top aide, Christine Beatty. What is unique about Jon is he is not a political figure or a Hollywood movie star. By agreeing to have a TV series, Jon & Kate plus 8, he is living his life in the public eye.

If Jon Gosselin did in fact cheat, he is no different than many Americans. While no one knows the exact number of married people who cheat, estimates range for 15%-18%.
