Kate Middleton Chooses Wedding Dress Designer but Name to Remain Mum (Links)

While the good news is that Kate Middleton has chosen a wedding dress designer, the bad news is that the designer's name will remain a secret, according to a report by People.

Although the source who spoke with People told them Kate had chosen a designer, the princess-to-be wishes to keep the dress a secret for the Prince until their wedding, according to a palace spokesman.

While speculation that Bruce Oldfield may be the wedding dress designer there's really no proof. U.K.'s News of the World inferred that Oldfield is indeed the designer as they reveal photos of Carole Middleton with daughter Kate having lunch at San Lorenzo and then heading to Oldfield's store located in Knightsbridge.

In fact, News of the World wrote that the shopping trip gave "a big hint he's been picked to design the royal wedding dress."

Bruce Oldfield, a favorite of Princess Diana, told People "no comment" when asked about Kate and her dress. They did report, however, that Oldfield stated in December, "Kate has such a gorgeous figure that she would look stunning in anything."

Another hint that Bruce Oldfield may be the royal wedding designer?

A report by WWD (Women's Wear Daily) posted on December 2, 2010 stated that Irish bookmaker Paddy Power put the odds at 1-3 that Oldfield would be Kate's choice.

In fact, spokesman Darren Haines of Paddy Power told WWD, "We saw this pattern of royal wagers with the venue and the date and they both proved correct."

Additionally, Haines stated "Although we didn't expect a betting plunge on the dress designer to happen quite so soon, when the stakes changed from fivers and tenners to hundreds of pounds, it appears as though the cat is out of the bag."
