COMMENTARY | Kate Middleton somehow seems to outdo herself each and every day, looking more stunning every time she steps out the door. On Monday night, the Duchess of Cambridge, her husband Prince William, and younger brother Prince Harry attended a tabloid-sponsored military awards ceremony. The lucky princess strolled the red carpet with the two handsome men at her side.
The princes may have felt they were the lucky ones, as Middleton, as always, stole the show. She stunned in an Alexander McQueen black velvet gown, proving that she was well deserving of the top spot on Grazia's Best Dressed List of 2011.
The 29-year-old's gown was quite reminiscent of the one Diana wore to the White House in November 1985, where she danced with John Travolta. The gorgeous strapless dress was made of luxurious black velvet with a sweetheart neckline and a boned bodice, and it may be her most beautiful to date.
The elegant brunette seems to emulate both the late Diana's style and grace, and this summer she even donned a pair of her sapphire and diamond earrings in addition to the engagement ring that belonged to the late princess.
In October, Middleton filled in for her father-in-law Prince Charles, at a moment's notice, for what became her first solo engagement, and impressed everyone as if she'd been doing it for years. She seemed comfortable speaking with guests , listening intently and appearing genuinely interested.
The Duchess seems to know just how to impress, and never fails to forget any of the little details. At Monday's ceremony, her earrings sparkled, and she wore a jeweled necklace that made her shine even brighter. It was made of rubies and diamonds, and both jewels were said to be wedding gifts.
The guest list at the ceremony was quite impressive, including Prime Minister David Cameron, David Beckham and even the perpetually unhappy chef, Gordon Ramsay. But, as always, all eyes were on the magnificent Middleton on Monday night in London.
