Katie Holmes Buys Snow Cones for Cast and Crew

But, Really, Who Cares?

Forget the war in Iraq! Forget the deadly landslide in China! People Magazine Online has just confirmed that Katie Holmes has treated the cast and crew of her new movie, Mad Money, to snow cones! If there has ever been worthwhile, hard hitting news, this is it. Katie Holmes is really working towards a great cause. As a new mother, she obviously understands the nutritional value of a snow cone rich in vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and more! She has finally come to understand the power of her celebrity, and has decided to use it to promote feeding the working class man snow cones.

In all seriousness, it's a nice gesture for Katie Holmes to give her cast and crew a little treat every Friday (in what has been dubbed "Treats and Goodies, it's Friday" as a take on TGIF). But do we really need to have this be considered news? News is politics. News is the casualties in the war on Iraq. News is business. News is not what flavor snow cone Katie Holmes gave to the people she's working with. Who hasn't brought in a box of donuts to the office? Why haven't they received an article on people.com?

Maybe Katie Holmes is using Treats and Goodies, it's Friday as a ploy to keep the public from paying attention to her strange marriage to Tom Cruise. Nothing says happy and well adjusted like a snow cone. Maybe Katie Holmes is trying to show us she's the same good girl that she was back in the days of Dawson's Creek. What's more innocent than a snow cone? Or maybe, Katie Holmes is using snow cones as a way to bribe her coworkers into liking her, because her marriage has left her lonely and desperate for human contact. Snow cones are great, but they don't work miracles.

All I'm trying to say is that there are more important things for the news to be focusing on; even celebrity gossip websites can come up with more pressing issues than this! At least the feud between Rosie O'Donnell and Elizabeth Hasselbeck on The View has an impact on the general public (or at least those who watch the show). And at least that was interesting.

If Katie Holmes was trying to prove to us that she's a nice girl, she succeeded. But I really don't want to have to read another story about snow cones. I have better things to do with my time than read a story about shaved ice.
