Katie Holmes Career Still in Cruise Control, Latest Film is Sundance's First Bomb (Links)

Katie Holmes' career has basically skydived for the past few years and unfortunately her name is connected to the movie dubbed at the Sundance Film Festival as its first bomb. The film also starring Al Pacino is called The Son of No One and is basically a cop and crime drama that pits Holmes in unfamiliar territory as she cusses and swears as a cop's wife.

In early January, Holmes had bad news when A&E dropped 'The Kennedys', an eight-part miniseries in which she played the role of Jacqueline Kennedy.

Saying that the film was not right for the History Channel, A&E issued a statement that read in part, "Upon completion of the production of 'The Kennedys,' History has decided not to air the eight-part miniseries. While the film is produced and acted with the highest quality, after viewing the final product in its totality, we have concluded this dramatic interpretation is not a fit for the History brand".

In The Son of No One, The Hollywood Reporter said that industry insiders, including executives from Paramount, Sony, and Samuel Goldwyn to name a few, as well as regular audience attendees walked out of the film on Monday while it was still rolling.

A source who spoke with UsMagazine.com, told them the following, "When Katie showed up on screen, there was a collective groan. She plays the wife of a Queens' cop [Tatum] and she was completely miscast. They have her cursing a lot. And when she swore, there were chuckles."

Not very positive praise for a young star who seemed to be on the rise just five years ago. Although it would be ridiculous to say there is a correlation to her fledgling career since the time Holmes became engaged to Tom Cruise, it can be said with truth that that is about the time Katie's star just didn't shine as bright when it comes to her career.
