Katt Williams Arrested for Burglary: November Not a Good Month for the Pimp

Katt Williams Just Had Weapons Charges Dropped in July

Comedian and actor Katt Williams was arrested Sunday night and charged with burglary and criminal trespassing, according to MSN.com. The Coweta County (Georgia) Sheriff's Office reported that they responded to a call Sunday night from an unidentified homeowner who maintained that Katt Williams had broken into their home and taken some items from the residence. Katt Williams was identified and then taken to the Coweta County Jail and booked.

According to Coweta County Sheriff's Office Major James Yarbrough, the 38-year-old comedian broke into a home in Newnan, Georgia, which is nearly 40 miles southwest of Atlanta. A homeowner called the Sheriff's Office around 9 p.m. and informed them that Katt Williams had "gained entry by breaking into the home, and items were taken from the residence." Yarbrough said that some jewelry was taken from the home but would not disclose further details.

Katt Williams, whose stand-up comedy specials are a mainstay on Comedy Central Network, saw his latest DVD, "Katt Williams: Pimpadelic," enter the Nielsen/Soundscan Top 10 list last month. "Pimpadelic" is his fourth comedy disc. Williams was the host of the 1st Annual BET Hip Hop Awards in 2006. He is also known for his often caricaturish roles in major motion pictures like "Norbit," "Friday After Next," and "First Sunday," and appears in the upcoming comedy-thriller "Lonely Street," which stars Jay Mohr, Joe Montegna, Nikki Cox, and Robert Patrick.

But Katt Williams, for all his successes, can't seem to stay on the good side of law enforcement. In November 2006, he was sentenced to three years probation for carrying a concealed weapon in a briefcase at Los Angeles International Airport. In November 2008, Williams was arrested after New York Police pulled him over in Manhattan in a vehicle without license plates and found three guns in the vehicle. Those charges were dropped in July when prosecutors could not prove their case.

A mughot (via CNN) of Katt Williams shows that he doesn't seem to be taking his latest November arrest too seriously and Coweta County officials say he is eligible for bond. One of the shots shows him smiling.

Major Yarbrough said authorities believe that Williams was in the Atlanta area working on a film.

Given the number of arrests and court appearances the comedian has accumulated in the month of November through the years, he may wish to begin planning sabbaticals and vacations for the 11th month from now on.

It is a crime to be black in Newnan Ga. I know because I live here. President Barack Obama would probably be arrested if he came to this place.

Thanks, A. Hermitt. That is why I do follow-up articles... I also live in Atlanta and followed this story from go. I wrote that story about 10 a.m., giving the info that was given at the time. I've written a couple more since.

The man is a Multi Millionaire. He crazy, but doesn't need to steal. The owner of the property verified his story. He can't wait for his day in court.

Saul, I am a fan, but you don't have the whole story... heck, you don't even have half. I live in GA so let me explain what was on the local news. He was renting a mansion from film producer he is making a movie with. A groundskeeper who also rented a smaller house on the property accused him of breaking and entering. He did break a window in the groundskeepers house because he couldn't get in to turn on the lights as the horses were being spooked by their reflection. The groundskeeper blew things out of proportion and accused a man of stealing jewelry worth probably 10% of the jewelry he was wearing.

Jeez, is his day job not good enough? What kind of example is he setting for his son? I am also thinking there is more to this story, but I'm sure there was a better way to handle it. Some people are just drama magnets...

WHAT???? Why would he even need to do that?

  • saul relative11/9/2009

I'm willing to bet that it is a family member, a friend, or an ex that had something of his and they locked the door to their house. When he busted in, they called the police on him. We'll see when he is arreigned...
