Katy Perry and Russell Brand: Celibacy and Modesty
Perry has imposed a ban on sex before her wedding to comedian Russell Brand. According to a Mirror source, "Katy wants everything to be special for their wedding including the first night. Russell has reluctantly agreed."
This is not to suggest that Perry and Brand are virgins. The ban on sex only applies to the period just before the wedding. I doubt they'll have to deal with awkward passionate honeymoon sex on their wedding night.
Russell Brand may not be thrilled about Katy Perry's pre-wedding sex ban, but he is taking his upcoming marital vows seriously. He will not consider a pre-nuptial agreement because the idea of it would ruin the significance of his wedding. And despite their celebrity status, they plan on having a simple wedding and not selling pictures.
As Brand told New York Magazine (via Toronto Sun), "I want to make our wedding just about me and her loving each other and we're getting married in front of our friends and family and keeping it normal."
Katy Perry and Russell Brand: Indian Wedding
Perry and Brand will be married next weekend in Jaipur, India. They plan to spend their wedding night at the luxury Taj Rambagh Palace Hotel in Rajasthan. She plans to keep it modest. She will wear a sari to avoid offending her Indian hosts.
Jaipur, India, has special significance to the couple. In January, he proposed to her while they were on holiday in Jaipur (according to Hello Magazine).
Given their modesty about the affair, they will likely fare better than Elizabeth Hurley and Arun Nayar. Hurley and Nayar were happily married in Jodhpur only for her father-in-law to slap them with a lawsuit for "making a mockery of Hinduism" at their wedding.
Wedding pictures showed Hurley drinking champagne, kissing her husband, refusing to take off her shoes for the ceremony (a violation of Hindu wedding customs), and refusing to sit at the Hindu wedding mandap. An ABC News source speculated that the pictures were a mere attempt to keep Hurley in the news, but this lawsuit couldn't have been what she envisioned for her wedding day.
Katy Perry and Russell Brand: Pushing the Envelope
Perry and Brand may be taking a vow of celibacy until the wedding, but this does not mean that they are going to stop doing what they do best: pushing the envelope. According to a Zack Taylor source, Brand commented that he planned on making a sex tape.
"Give them what they want," Brand said.
Who knows if he was kidding or not? Either way, there will not be any sex tapes of them until after they are married. Good luck to Katy Perry and Russell Brand!

Well time will tell if they remain steadfast or if they don't. Also will be interesting to see if they don't sell photos of the wedding.
