Kauai, Hawaii: A Tropical Paradise Getaway

Candi Flynn
Are you looking for a great, tropical wedding setting or honeymoon destination? Or maybe just a nice get-away spot for you and your sweetie? Kauai, Hawaii is on the top of my list for a beautiful, romantic vacation for two.

Kauai is Hawaii's oldest and northernmost island. Almost circular in shape, it was formed over six million years ago by volcanoes and offers nearly 550 square miles of beauty.

Kauai is known as Hawaii's garden isle. It's lush greenery and sparkling, sandy beaches make it a true tropical paradise. Kauai is also home to Mount Waialeale, who's summit is known to be the wettest spot on earth. The summit, however, is very rarely visible from the ground because it is surrounded in clouds.

Kauai has many activities to offer while you are visiting: golfing, horseback riding, fishing, hiking, windsurfing, scuba diving, and camping just to name a few . You can also take a helicopter tour of the island which will take you many places that you're unable to reach on foot.

You will be able to take in some of Kauai's local culture by visiting some of their historic sites and museums. Most resorts also have nightly luaus for you to attend.

There are many beautiful sites to see while visiting Kauai. A few must-see attractions are Waimea Canyon (known as The Grand Canyon of the Pacific), Kilauea Lighthouse, Na Pali Coast, Spouting Horn, Wailua Falls, Opaekaa Falls, and many more.

Kauai is also known for it's many, beautiful beaches. The most popular would be Poipu Beach on the south shore. Poipu has been at the top of many beach-goer's lists for many years. There is also Hanalei Bay located on the north shore. With it's calm shoreline, Hanalei Bay is a long, half-moon shaped, sandy beach. Barking Sands Beach is also a beautiful, almost hidden beach on Kauai. It's located down a very bumpy dirt road at the very edge of the Na Pali Coast. It's almost 15 miles long and over 300 foot wide. This is definitely a must-see beach if you're looking for something extremely beautiful, yet secluded. With over ten beaches for you to visit, you could very-well spend all of your time on Kauai exploring them.

Only 3% of Kauai's land has been developed for commercial and residential use. It has nearly perfect weather all year long. Rain showers usually occur in the early morning and evening hours leaving you the perfect day to discover and explore Kauai.

Beautiful Kauai has also been the backdrop for many popular movies including Jurassic Park, Six Days Seven Nights, Raiders of the Lost Ark, South Pacific, Blue Hawaii, and the 1976 remake of King Kong.

Make Kauai, Hawaii your next tropical travel destination if you want to experience the true Aloha spirit.
