Kauai : Paradise Island

Joe Davis
Swaying palms and beaches beyond the eye can see is what a Hawaiian Island is supposed to look like. Drinking a cocktail out of a coconut while swaying in a hammock on the beach is an ideal fantasy but can be made possible by visiting the island of Kauai. Unlike most of the other Hawaiian Islands, Kauai has been left almost untouched by man and has very basic resources, but still have the very best if you want it. Kauai has tropical gardens to majestic mountain cliffs to beaches that look like they were painted for a backdrop in Hollywood. This helps create the most amazing tropical setting for any vacationer.

Kauai has the glamor of Maui and some of the more developed islands but yet still has plenty of room that is left unspoiled for everyone to find. Here you will find marble floored rooms of top of the line resorts to people selling Hawaiian shaved ice straight out of a van on the beach. The Island also is isolated along the northern Hawaiian chain making it seem away from everyone in the world. The beaches are among the top in the world for many different activities like snorkeling, surfing and sailing. The inland has many rugged mountains that would challenge the most adventuress climbers but still has trails that even beginners can enjoy. It is safe to say that Kauai has something for everyone.

If you plan to travel to Kauai I would highly recommend taking a trip to both the north and the south sides of the islands. The south side is full of open spaces and the beaches have waves suited for the best surfers to beginners. The west side of the island has wide beaches with sand dunes as far as can see, as well as the famous Waimea Canyon that's been called the Grand Canyon on the Pacific. The north side is where I fell in love with the real beauty of the island. It offers picture perfect beaches to dense jungles. The north side creates the illusion that you are in paradise and nothing in the outside world matters. From Hiking along the Na Pali coast to snorkeling the crystal clear waters of Tunnels beach, the north said has amazing beauty everywhere you look. Kauai to me is the most gorgeous and magical place in the world. Once you get there, your biggest struggle is resisting to tear up your flight ticket home.
