Jackson Hole, Wyoming, is a vacationer's paradise. With close proximity to Yellow National Park and the Grand Teton National Park, there's plenty to do with spectacular scenery.

If you're looking for an adventure, consider kayaking at Jackson Hole. Flowing from the mountain ranges and nearby canyons, Jackson Hole waters are the perfect location for kayaking.

Beginner kayakers will enjoy the tranquil water that Shoshone Lake offers. An advantage to beginning on this lake is that no motorized watercraft is allowed, keeping the water calm. This lake is great for practicing basic strokes, edging and balancing. A leisurely kayak trip will allow you to enjoy the wildflowers and wildlife which include elk, moose and bald eagles.

Intermediate kayakers will enjoy the upper mile of Shoshone Lake where the water is rapid. Another favorite location for intermediate and advanced paddlers is the Snake River. The class II and III rapids provide the perfect opportunity for improving whitewater paddling skills. Wildlife most commonly seen from Snake River includes the bald eagle, osprey, elk, moose, river otter, and sometimes bighorn sheep. Experienced kayakers are sure to get an adrenaline rush as they take on the crashing waters of Snake River Canyon.

When planning your kayak trip, keep in mind that Jackson Hole waters are bitterly cold. You may wish to wear a wetsuit or chest waders. In addition, wear bright colors so that you can be seen between waves or in the fog. Clothing should be quick drying and cotton is not advisable. Wear a life jacket at all times, along with protective head gear.

Jackson Hole has been referred to as an "absolute haven" for outdoor recreational activities, especially kayaking. You will not be disappointed with your kayak adventure.
