One of the most highly recommended companies for kayaking in the Boston area is Charles River Canoe and Kayak. Through them you can organize a range of kayaking adventures.
Guided Kayak Tours
If you're new to the Boston area and are interested in getting a different type of tour of the city, the guided river and harbor tour is for you. During the three hour tour, you'll get to kayak on the charles river and see some of the oldest Boston ships as well as the Old North Church and the Boston Financial District. There is also a two hour skyline and city lights kayaking tour where you can view the sites of Boston at night, including the Hancock and Prudential buildings at night. These guided tours cost about $55-$75 per adult and less for children.
Kayak Rentals
If you're more of an independent type and already feel somewhat confident in your kayaking abilities, a solo kayak rental may be perfect for you. Renting a kayak to paddle along the Charles River is a really great experience. There are stretches of the Charles River which are particularly calm and so ideal for kayakers. Single kayaks cost between $15-$20 per hour, and between $60-80 for a full day rental. You can also rent double or quad kayaks if you're going in a group for a little bit extra.
Kayaking Classes
Charles River Canoe and Kayak also offers quite a number of classes for those who are interested in learning how to kayak or those who are looking to hone their skills even further. Their introduction to kayak classes take place over 2 days for three hours and cost about $150 (which includes unlimited onsite practice for three weeks!). If you're looking for more advanced classes, they also offer an introduction to sea kayaking as well as ocean skills courses and a course for Coastal Kayak Certification.
