Kayla Marie Dalton, a premature infant birthed from a very young mother who passed away during delivery, awaiting to be chosen. There are eleven other children in the home waiting for new families as well. One by one, each child was adopted, all with the exception of this beautiful Kayla, with her tiny curls and big smiles for she was not chosen. Kayla grew up in foster-homes all her childhood life. It was Kayla's first day of kindergarten and the teacher divided the class into two seperate groups in which the children would then pair up with a desk-buddy. One-by-one, each child made there way over to a friend then took there seats. Kayla was the last one standing, for she was not chosen. The teacher became her desk-buddy and one of the only people that gave Kayla a chance. See, Kayla was a small tiny child, lived in foster-homes and very shy. Alot of other children did not understand her because children often never understood those who are different. Kayla entered the school hallway, making her way to her locker. Taped to the front of each locker was a flyer advertising for the spring dance. The girls were to ALL show up without a date so that when they started the dance, it was always gentleman-like for the boy to go over to the girl and ask for "this dance". Again, one-by-one each young-man made their way to the young-ladies, asked them for "this dance" and went out on the dance floor. Kayla, still sitting there watches as the other girls twirled about in their long beautiful dresses and waited for the dance to end for she was not chosen. "Kayla Marie Dalton", she heard her name being called as she made her way across the stage to recieve her diploma. It was graduation Day and all she could think about was that one teacher who was her desk-buddy in kindergarten as she peared through the audience hoping to see her, but with tears in her eyes realized that no-one chose to be there for her on this celbration. One day when Kayla was rounding her twenty-first birthday, she awoke to the sound of her cat wanting to be fed. She headed down the stairs of her apartment when she slipped on wet pavement and bruised her hip. She was sore and bruised for weeks and she could not understand why she was not healing. Kayla was diagnosed with a common cancer called "Aplastic Anemia with Diamond-Blackfan Syndrome". She went through many months of chemotherapy, radiation, test after test with very little hope of improving. She needed a bone marrow transplant and was on the waiting list. Two weeks shy of her twenty-second birthday, Kayla lost her fight with cancer before she was chosen for the transplant. After the doctors covered her frail little body and wheeled her away, her foster parents came to collect her belongings. While going through some of Kayla's things, her foster-mother came across a folded up peice of paper. As she unwrapped this letter, she begin to read. Her eyes filled with tears and she fell to her knees praying to God to watch over Kayla. The not read "I WASchosen at birth, for God chose to give me life, I WASchosen in kindergarten because God chose to give me hope, I WASchosen at the spring dance, because God was my partner and he danced in my heart, I WASchosen in the hospital because God chose to take me home. Love, Kayla."
