Kayla in the Evening

Ruth Carter
As the sun sets in the west, my own sunshine begins to gleam.

She is as the glow of a bright evening star.

Her eyes as blue as sapphires beam.

Her hair as flaxen gold from afar.

She is the cherished rose that blooms in my garden.

She is the sparkling jewel of priceless worth.

She is the gentle breeze on a spring day in Arden.

She has been a blessing since her awaited birth.

Her name means beautiful.

Her heart is strong and pure.

Her intelligence is bountiful.

For sadness, she provides a cure.

Kayla in the evening.

She is a treasured soul.

She is as a vase of Ming.

She is as a diamond from coal.
