KBS Invincible Youth Introduces the New G7 Members

Invincible Youth is most likely among the most successful Korean variety shows that are still on broadcast. It showcases 7 girls from different idol groups in South Korea and they do farm work and basically try to live independently. It has been running since October 2009 and the original cast members are Yuri and Sunny from Girls Generation, Goo Hara from Kara, Narsha from Brown Eyed Girls, Hyuna from 4Minute, Hyomin from T-Ara and Sunhwa from Secret. They are also called G7. The emcees are actor Noh Joohyun, singer Kim Taewoo, and comedienne Kim Shinyoung.

However, due to their respective groups' activities and conflicting schedules, Yuri, Sunny and Hyuna would have to leave the show permanently. It was really a sad moment when it was announced that they were leaving. They already made that special bond with each other while working and having fun together. But of course, we can't expect anything to be permanent especially in variety shows.

So, last Friday, the new episode introduced the 3 new G7 members and they are After School's Joo Yeon, f(x)'s leader Victoria and solo performer Kim Sori. They each introduced themselves in a unique way. Joo Yeon came in a band costume which was a concept that their group used. Victoria, very famous for her flexible body, came in kung-fu style and showcased her ability to bend her body. Kim Sori made a strong entrance by doing some hip-hop dance.

I've had my first impressions as well. I'm very much interested in seeing Sori since she isn't a member of a girl group and I only like a few such as Lee Hyori and Park Jiyoon. I can see that she is witty and would probably add a lot of laughs to the show. Joo Yeon, on the other hand, seems to add quite the charm because of her looks. She seems composed and elegant and I'm curious how she would do. And yeah, I'm starting to like her. As for Victoria, I've seen her quite a lot of times since her group is in the same company as Girls Generation (Yuri and Sunny) and she appears quite often in other variety shows as well. She's well-mannered and quite formal at times but sometimes, she can make you laugh.

In this episode, they did the basics. The new members caught chickens, got exposed to bugs, planted crops and did some errands. It really looked like a good warm up for the 3 members. Also, Kim Jongmin is present to assist the group but only for 4 episodes. Time will come they will most likely get closer to each other as well.

I'm a fan of Girls Generation and without Yuri and Sunny, I thought I won't like the show afterwards. But I guess I was wrong. I still like the show and can't wait for the next episode. Now, I wonder how Yuri, Sunny and Hyuna felt if they have watched this episode. I'm quite sure they have and they must have felt sad and happy at the same time. I'm pretty sure with the help of the old members and the very talented emcee's they can move on and possibly make a better Invincible Youth.
