Keep Your Babies Safe from the Summer Heat with Sun Protection Clothing

Get a head start on protecting your children from the future damages of the sun by protecting them from the first day you take them to the beach. With the crazy weather we are all getting and the heat getting worse every year, it's important to do everything you can to protect your kids. The damage the sun can do when their little can haunt them later in life and the effects will not be reversible. Please take a look at the following items I've suggested so you don't have to worry about your toddlers burning up at the beach.

At sunclothingetc.com you will find a nice selection of items for your babies that they can wear at the beach and still stay safe from sun exposure. The first item I love is the SolarBaby Sun Blanket which keeps dangerous UV rays away from your baby's skin since they're too young and delicate to handle the harsh chemicals in most sun lotion products. The blanket also has a corner pocket to lay over your baby's head to keep that little scalp from being exposed to the sun. It is washable and since the SPF 40 is fused to the fabric, you don't have to worry about it losing its effectiveness. It also has corner ties so you can secure it to your baby's beach crib or stroller. At $17.99 this is a cheap and effective way to protect your infants. They also carry a large selection of Cwear Australia brand swimsuits for your toddlers with short and long sleeves and shorts or long pants. The fabric is chlorine resistant so they can even wear these at the pool. They are lightweight and breathable so your toddlers will stay cool and comfortable all day. These swimsuits are around the $40 - $50 range.

Still looking for more items you may want to try solartex.com which carries several items for babies and infants that offer sun protection. Here you can find everything from Cwear Sun Protection Swim Shirts, in sizes 0-6 for about $26; Baby Sunsuits with long sleeves for about $45; One Piece Baby Suit Hat & Blanket set for around $73 and One Piece Baby UV Sun Protective Sunsuit/Swimsuits for about $40 which are water-resistent and offer SPF protection of 50+ and blocks out 98% of the harmful UV rays. Please also remember that your little ones who are still in diapers don't change their habits just because they are in water. The best way to make sure your little messes aren't someone elses problems is to have your baby wear My Pool Pal disposable swim diapers. These are available here in size 12 months to 4T. The important thing is that these are proven to reduce the risk of E. coli bacteria from being released into the water when your child soils them. I really don't think the local pool is somewhere you want to have any mishaps in the water. A three pack of these disposable diapers, which can be reused if not soiled, costs $10. Don't forget to protect your child's head also by getting a sun hat to wear all the times that they are outdoors. For under $25 you can get a variety of styles to protect their little heads such as a Cwear bucket sun hat, though I prefer the Cwear flap hats which also protect the backs of their necks that may not be protected by their shirts. This site also offers babies and kids sunglasses with a strap to keep them on their tiny faces and Aqua shoes for infants and toddlers. Also available here is a Sunscreen Spray by Baby Blanket which is especially formulated for babies and adults with sensitive skin. Available with an SPF 45+ it is water-resistant and paba-free, hypoallergenic and non-irritating. This spray offers protection in the water for up to 80 minutes after application.

The most important thing to remember is to keep your children safe from the sun by providing them with clothing that actually blocks the harmful rays. Don't think that as long as they are wearing a long sleeved shirt that they are protected. The rays can penetrate right through the fabric and they can still burn, maybe just not as quickly as if they wore nothing at all. Regardless of the sun protection clothing, you should always apply a sun screen to your child's skin as long as they are over six months of age. Please check with your pediatrician before using any product on your baby under six months old. There are many products out there now that are geared towards children such as Hawaiian Tropics Baby Faces or Coppertone Waterbabies which have SPF 50+ protection, however do not use these on very young children without asking your doctor first.
