Change is scary sometimes. What happens if people don't like me? What happens if it doesn't work out? I know from changing jobs so many times, that doing something new is exciting and keeps things fresh. It can mean the difference between a humdrum life and one that's exciting and always new.
Embracing the unknown is like trusting God. You have to have faith that he will keep you safe. He is a mystery. No one has ever figured God out. That's why people keep going to church. It is that mystery and promise of a better life through Jesus.
But sometimes you just need to trust that you'll be ok. And run with it. I was promoted to manager of a photography studio by working hard and using my knowledge from other jobs to do a good job. Now I'm using my know how to learn how to publish a book. I spent months looking at good photos and I want to make sure my book looks great so I'm going to take a few photos today and see how they turn out.
Just wishing you had a different life isn't enough. You need to act bravely and step out and face challenges and have patience as you learn new skills. You need to make changes to make that life a reality. I kept writing and writing and now I have a book I'm going to publish of poetry. Maybe I'll fail miserably. Maybe I'll achieve modest success. Who knows? But I'm trying. I've seen others succeed and I want to be successful too.
I've seen how important being humble is and keeping a good attitude. The great are gentle. And the gentle are great. Jesus was the greatest man who ever lived. But he was gentle above all else. He worked for his father and it was done for his Father's will. We could all learn to set aside our pride and do something for the greater good. Something that many people seem to miss, but I can't help but wonder what life would be like if people really did follow Jesus out of the goodness of their hearts.

Post a CommentYeah, change is scary, but what's even scarier is not trying the things you always wanted to do in your life, and then having regrets later on.
