Keep Your Sweating in Check!

Conventional antiperspirants contain ingredients like aluminum chloride and aluminum chlorohydrate to control sweating by plugging up your sweat glands. However, research has shown that these chemicals may seep into your skin, which can increase your risk of certain health problems, such as breast cancer. Most people think nothing of it when they here a report like this, but for those that care there are safer alternatives.

Manufacturers have listened to the demands for natural deodorants. Companies such as Nature Gate to Adidas are offering a natural alterative. Adidas absorbent-Deo deodorant's formula is aluminum-free, instead it has tiny cotton fibers along with other ingredients to help absorb perspiration and wick the sweat away from your skin.

Some of you probably do not know that sweat is odorless; the odor is caused by a bacterium that naturally lives on your skin. This bacteria loves heat, it thrives in it. They release a byproduct as they metabolize sweat, causing the bad smell. To (naturally) keep these smelly organisms in check, you will want to use stuff with antiseptic abilities such as tea tree oil and witch hazel.

You can try a deodorant stone; they are usually made of mineral salts. The salts prevent the bacteria from growing, and to grow they need to eat (sweat, skin, and body oil) and eating makes the stinky smell, so this kind will not stop the sweat just keep you from stinking.

However there are down sides to this kind of deodorant, if you have shaved your armpits before you put tit on it may burn a little bit, because of the salt. And, you have to wet the stone to apply it.

If your sweating is more than normal and antiperspirants just are not cutting it, you may want to try a sage tea. Use with caution, it is not recommended for pregnant or lactating women to drink sage tea. In addition, if you have seizures DO NOT use sage at all it may trigger a seizure.

The volatile compounds in sage have been proven to have antihydrotic (sweat reducing) action, decreasing your body wide perspiration significantly.

It has been used for sweat control in Europe for many years. Experts suggest sipping two-to-three cups throughout the day, for as long as you need it.

When brewed it has a green tea flavor. If you do not like the flavor, try putting some sugar or honey in it.
