Keeper of the Human Race

Darcy Sautelet
Atop a mountain

Cold and clear,

I found a man

All could fear

His eyes were full

Of life's worry and sin

His voice was hollow

With all he'd been

Heart withered and shriveled

Yet achingly full,

Mysteries of life

Locked in his soul

He laid his hand

Upon my head

I saw all who lived,

All who were dead

I felt agony

Flow through my veins

Felt aching love

In soft summer rains

Visions of blood

Flew through my mind

And those of hope

For all mankind

Buildings crumbled

Dust parched me dry

Through burning flames

I saw many die

As tears burnt rivulets

Over my skin

I marveled

As the earth

Grew again

With eyes of pain

I stared into this face

Of life, and death

Keeper,

Of the Human Race

I watched him grow

Into a tree

Branches of life

Roots of Eternity

Then he changed

Once again

A giant of proportion

To dwarf man

Through parched lips

I felt him blow

A horrendous wind

Through my soul

I fell to my knees

Upon the earth

Felt her tremble

Remembered her birth

I reached desperately

Towards the home I knew

But I understood

I was cursed,

With the winds he blew

Heart withered and shriveled,

Yet achingly full

Mysteries of life

Locked in my soul

To wander always

Upon this place

Storing the words

The deeds

Keeper,

Of the Human Race.

Nah...my brain is this mushed all by itself. Good thing I stay away from the wacky stuff. That would be almost frightening.
