Keeping All Your Internet Passwords Organized

Lance Esondi
With the internet today it is not uncommon to have multiple names and passwords that you have to remember for all the online accounts that you have. With things like forums, social networking sites, video sites, email accounts, gaming sites, and others it's very easy to end up with twenty or more passwords to keep in check. When you have this many, you are going to have to have a system else you will lose login information and be frustrated. There are some techniques that you can use to help you out.

One option is to simply use a piece of paper. It lacks security as someone could take or move the piece of paper, but it's fairly efficient since you will have it all in front of you. This keeps it all organized in one place so that you can refer to it. When you get a new password, be sure to write it down on the paper so it's in one place.

There are password plugins that you can use with your browser to help you login to your various accounts. There are two programs that are very popular at the time that help you with this. The most popular is one called Roboform. You can store your passwords in it and have the plugin automatically login to various accounts once you have logged in with the master password. This only works with Windows.

For those using the Mac or even Linux, there is an addon that you can use with various browsers called LastPass. This is very much like Roboform and the basic functionality is completely free.

A third option for storing your passwords this way is to use secure and encrypted notepad services online. With these you can login and see your names and passwords. It's fairly secure and should keep you safe. One option is to use a code so you know what the passwords mean without having to type in the real ones into the notepad service.
