Keeping Your Children in Their Beds All Night

Helping Your Children with Bad Dreams, Wild Animals, Bad People and Monsters in the Night

Tess Fleming
We all know that darkened bedrooms are inhabited by a multitude of some of the wildest animals from the animal kingdom and worse yet, monsters. To compound the problem, it is well known that beyond the bedroom doors of children lurk evil individuals who continuously monitor the whereabouts of children with the intent to enter darkened homes while parents sleep peacefully down the hall and murder or kidnap unsuspecting children.

These are the issues and facts that must be overcome if parents are going to be successful at getting their children to stay in bed all night. The odds are against parents with the plethora of fierce and frightening animals and individuals roaming at will throughout the night, but there is some hope.

Bedtime routines are imperative for children. Routine provides comfort to even the most unsuspecting of children and even adults. Bedtime routines can include baths, brushing teeth, reading books and praying, the same time and the same way each evening. Routines help parents through the hour leading up to bed, the provide comfort to children and I am pretty certain that they terrify animals, bad people and even monsters into staying far away from where the routines are occurring.

Your children also need to know that they are safe. They are safe, not because you are there, but they need to be told that they are safe because their house and their room are safe. They are safe simply because they are safe.

A common mistake made by almost every parent, including myself, is to reassure your children that they are safe because you are there. Imagine my dismay when my young daughter was terrified of sleep-overs with friends or staying with relatives when I was away. I had been her source of security, the only one between the wild animals, bad people and monsters that were roaming the night, and without me she was certain that the security was gone. A simple mistake on my part with significant consequences in the dark of night.

Children rarely sleep through the night without awakening at lease once. It is during the moments during the night that they are awake that they find themselves most vulnerable to the wandering wild animals, bad people and monsters. They have nothing else to think about in the middle of the night, after all. But there is a very powerful trick to overcoming these frightening thoughts so that they are able to smile and return to sleep in the comfort and safety of their own bed.

During the day, work with your child to collect pictures and photos of things that make them happy. Pictures of pets, parents, friends, toys and happy events should be collected and placed on a poster board with tape, glue, or whatever. Keep the poster to the side of their bed during the night and when they wake up they can roll over and look at the happy pictures, remembering better times. This will give them something to think about and smile, driving away any thoughts of wild animals, bad people and monsters.

It is a well known fact that wild animals, bad people and monsters are all telepathic. If your child's room is filled with happy thoughts and smiles they are not able to enter and cause great harm. Your child remains in his or her room, they sleep through the night with happy thoughts, and you will too.
