Keeping a Chocolate Labrador as a Family Pet

A Guide Showing You Reasons as Too Why a Labrador is the Perfect Choice of Dog

Labrador's are very common pets to keep, and in this guide I am going to be giving you some tips onto how to successfully raise and train a Labrador.

Reasons Why: A Chocolate Labrador is a very good choice for a pet as it is a very family-friendly animal, and gets along great with kids. Labradors are always craving human affection, and will find any excuse to come and sit down at the foot of the chair asking for a belly rub. This makes them a perfect dog for people who have the time to dedicate a portion of the day to giving the dog TLC, and basically treating it as a full family member.

It can be trained very quickly and effectively and in most cases responds very well to obedience classes. Labradors learn to pick up simple instructions such as 'Sit' and 'Stay' at a very young age giving you a good start into raising a well behaved pet. A Chocolate Labrador will serve you as a master exceptionally and as long as the dog is not given superiority to it's human companions it will stay in its rightful place as a member of the family.

What you will need: You will need to be patient while the puppy is still growing up. At this time the puppy may do a lot of teething (biting small objects), this is not normally a big deal as long as you keep valuable items out of the way. House training is also a key factor, the dog should be taught that they can go outside at certain times in the day to relieve themselves. If they know they have a schedule and food amounts are on a similar basis, house training will be a lot more effective and less time consuming.

You will need a relatively large yard, as a Chocolate Labrador can grow rather large and needs lots of exercise. If this is a problem however local parks or even small roads can suffice. Walks should be a daily routine and the dog should be let off their lead so they can run. Chocolate Labradors are almost always very social dogs, so parks with other dogs are also a very good idea. Having a larger yard also has other advantages, these are that instead of a run, the dog can be played with in the yard. I would not suggest this to replace a walk but on occasions it may be more enjoyable for you and the dog.

A chocolate Labrador would be a very good choice of pet for a family with children, or a person looking for a lovable dog. They are also highly intelligent and great swimmers for the people who love water dogs. I being a Chocolate Labrador owner myself can successfully say that they are a loving breed of dog and after having 4 kids I know that they get along great with children. I extremely hope this article has persuaded you into buying a Chocolate Labrador if your mind was hazy before.
