Keeping a Devotional Journal: 15 Prompts for Christians
Use These Prompts to Start a Journal and Get More Out of Your Quiet Time
You can use your journal to record your prayers and to note any insights you receive while studying the Bible. From time to time though, it can be beneficial simply to write about your relationship with Christ as you see it. If you are honest with yourself, you can understand what you really believe and what areas of your faith may need strengthening. The following prompts should help you use your devotional journal to explore your walk with Christ.
Your Choice to Follow Christ
1.What was your spiritual life like when you first trusted Jesus?
2.What doubts did you have to overcome before you came to Christ?
3.Has your enthusiasm for Christ increased or waned over time?
4.What behaviors did you forsake as a new Christian?
5.As a new Christian, what was your favorite passage of scripture? Why?
Your Christian Walk
6.When do you feel especially close to God?
7.Are there times when God feels distant from you?
8.Which of God's promises in the Bible means the most to you right now?

Living Your Faith
11.What is the highest priority in your life right now?
12.What problem or worry do you need to give over to God?
13.Who needs your prayers? Who needs to pray for you?
14.In what area of your life do you need to display more integrity?
15.With whom can you share your witness?
These prompts provide a good beginning, but there is no end to the topics you can examine in your journal. God's power and majesty are infinite, and he wants to be a part of every area of your life. There is more to explore in your devotional journal than you could cover in a lifetime.
