Keeping Your Immunity Healthy

If you are trying to stay healthy and dodge getting sick this winter, there are some key things you should do to make sure that your immunity stays healthy and functional. This is a major factor to maintaining good health, and to fighting off colds and flu's throughout the year. Your immunity is affected by many things and you should start taking better care of it today. This year's flu season was horrible around the nation, and here are some extra precautions you can take.

1. Take a multivitamin every day. With most people's fast and hectic lifestyles, they aren't taking the time to consider what is going into their diet and make sure that they are getting all of the proper nutrients and vitamins that their body and immunity needs to perform and function properly. Also, if you are around people who are sick, or if you are in the heat of cold and flu season, I would suggest that you take some additional Vitamin C tablets or make sure you are taking in some extra servings of citrus or fruit juice.

2. Drink plenty of fluids. Your immunity is affected by dehydration. Keep your body hydrated and keep your immunity healthy. This will help you constantly flush your body of toxins and harmful bacteria, so that they are not retained in your body.

3. Get plenty of sleep. When your body is run down, so is your immunity. Trying to regulate a continual sleeping pattern can do wonders for not only your immunity, but also for your mental health, and other aspects of your physical health.

4. Make sure you are taking in lots of fiber and your bowels are working properly. This also helps keep harmful bacteria and toxins from building up in your intestines and body, and can seriously affect your immunity and bodies overall function.

5. Wash your hands when necessary. I am not saying you have to do it 100 times a day, but consciously washing your hands after coming into contact with large crowds or direct contact with people can save you, literally. Also avoid touching your eyes, nose, face and mouth with your hands. Keeping germs away from your senses keeps your immunity healthy.

Good luck and try to do the following to avoid getting the flu or a common cold this flu season. Your immunity is literally the only protection that your body has, so take care of it, and try to make it stronger.
