Cleanser:
In summer, your skin increases the production of sebum, the skin's oils. Your cleanser in summer should be formulated to remove oil. Foaming cleansers work well in summer. However, in winter there's less oil so your cleanser should restore moisture. Try using an oil, milk, or cream cleanser.
Moisturizer:
The same as a cleanser, your summer moisturizer should be light and bouncy. But in winter you should switch your moisturizer to a rich cream to hydrate your skin well. Your moisturizer should contain vitamins to help keep your skin healthy. You should moisturize after cleansing while your skin is still slightly damp.
Exfoliating:
Exfoliating is important to help to remove all the dead skin off your face. It will make your skin appear younger and brighter. In winter especially, your skin is drier and sheds more skin. Exfoliating helps to speed up the skin's natural renewal process. Use a body scrub or exfoliating mitt on your body.
Face Spray:
If you're out and about, or if you're walking around a lot, your skin will be facing the harsh winter wind. Keep a facial spray in your handbag for a quick spritz to moisturize and awaken your skin instantly. You can buy some great ones, but you can also make your own and put it in a mini perfume bottle - rosewater works great.
Sunscreen:
Even in winter, there are UV rays everywhere. You may not see the sun shining, but it's still very easy to get burnt. It's important to wear sunscreen everyday to prevent burning, and sun cancer. Make sure you use it all over your body, not just your face.
Lip Balm:
Cracked, dry lips are common in winter. To soothe and prevent cracked lips, use a lip balm. The best lip balms are natural and contain ingredients like Vitamin A. Avoid ingredients like menthol and petroleum jelly. They may soothe your lips temporarily, but they leave them dry after.
Hand Cream:
Using a thick hand cream in winter will keep your hands soft and prevent chapped and hard hands. A great hand cream is Neutrogena's Norwegian hand cream, and it's under $5. You should also wear gloves in winter to protect your hands and to keep them warm.
Following these tips will help keep your skin supple and moisturized, and you'll have to do nothing at all the get ready for summer! Your skin will glow and be radiant all year round.
