Keeping the Summer Pests Away

I recently had a lot of bees that I just couldn't get rid of. The kids would avoid going out on the porch or playing outside on their swing set. I tried to use sprays but they just seem to make their nests again ounce the scent was gone. It was really getting frustrating and I didn't know what to do. I talk to many people and not too many knew what to do but I did get some great advice that I didn't think would work cause it seemed kind far fetched and absolutely absurd. I figured I had nothing to lose and I took the advice.

This is so simple and very inexpensive so I really suggest that you try it too (if you have problems with bees that is). Simply take a spray bottle, such as on that cleaning solutions come in (you can find these at discount dollar stores for a dollar). Add water to the bottle and a few drops of dish detergent. I use lemon fresh Joy brand (but I was just told to use dish detergent, not any specific brand or scent).

Take the spray mix and lightly spray the areas that the bees are building nests or flying around the most. You do not need to spray the bees themselves just spray the surface. For example, I lightly sprayed my deck railing and one corner of the porch roof where they seemed to always make a nest. Then after doing that I was told to back it up with toilet cleaners (the hanger type). They are very inexpensive and last a long time. I cut a hole in the bottom of the package and hung them in areas around the porch and the kids play area. The scent must keep them from coming back. I am really impressed with this and really couldn't believe that it worked the way it did.

The kids play and the bees no longer bother them. I was also told to put dryer sheets in their pockets and that smell also drives the bees away. I never tried this for bees but have used dryer sheets for pesky bugs that bite like mosquitoes. I quickly rub the dryer sheet over the skin that is exposed on my kids such as their legs, arms and face. The kids do not mind the smell of the dryer sheets and this usually works for several hours before needing reapplied. When I apply the dry sheet the first time I put the sheet in their pockets and just reuse the same one. One sheet is strong enough to work on more than one child and more than one application.

I know that these tips sound bizarre but they really do work. I honestly was ready to get an exterminator to come in and see what he could do about the bees. Well I saved a lot of money by just trying the above tips and I hope you will too.
