Keeping in Touch with Old Friends

Keeping in touch with old friends can be hard. A lot of times your best friends move away for school or work. But there's no reason why that should mean the end of your friendship. With all the technology available to us, if you're not keeping in touch with old friends, then maybe your friendship was not worth maintaining to begin with.

The best way to keep in touch is the phone. If you can't meet with someone, the next best thing is to at least talk to them over the phone. Old friends can talk at least once a week and catch up on everything that's been going on in your lives.

With the advent of the internet, it is even easier to contact your friends when you couldn't otherwise. A lot of times, people can't talk on the phone while they're at work, but if they have access to a computer, they can be on AIM. It is easier now to keep in touch with people via social networking sites like Myspace and Facebook. You might see in pictures that your friend got a pet or a haircut. You can call them up to or leave them a message right on their Facebook page and comment on the new development in their lives.

Many people also keep in touch with their friends through blogs. If people are studying in Europe, for example, it might be too expensive to call all your friends, so if you write about your experiences in a blog, you can keep your friends up to date.

However, keeping in touch with friends isn't just a problem when people have moved away. Sometimes when your friends live just a few blocks away, work commitments or relationships can come between you. Before you know it, you might not have seen your friends in weeks. So make it a point to have lunch or catch a movie together every once in a while.

Another easy way to keep in touch is to get together for birthdays. When people have a lot going on, it can be hard to get together and see each other. But if you make it a point to plan out a birthday dinner with all your friends, you can maintain all your friendships even with a busy life. It's also a good idea to plan a vacation or a day trip together.

Just remember to take the time of day for your friends. Whether it's calling, or sending a Myspace message, or meeting for coffee, any little bit of effort can keep your friendship alive.

this is a nice write-up that is really good in the quest of linking with old friends, though it does not comment on the measures one should take to meet friends which u missed contact for a while.
