Ke$ha Has the Number One Song in the Country, Sets Record with Tik Tok

She currently holds the number one spot in the country with her smash hit "Tik Tok" which also set the female record for most digital downloads in a week with 610,000 for the week ending Decmeber 27th according to Billboard.com. What is interesting about this is that she sang on the all-time leader in one week sales Flo-Rida's song "Right Round" but was not credited for her work. In fact she has said that she added the dollar sign in her name as a joke after not receiving any money from sales of "Right Round" despite its immense popularity in 2009. In just about six weeks after posting the video for "Tik Tok" on YouTube the song has amassed over 3.7 million views and that's just the official posting of the music video. The audio version of the song posted by Ke$ha has over 22 million views in just over four months after the posting.Like many other songs that achieve a meteoric rise to the top spot, reception from different people seems to be mixed. It has become an infectious party song and in the clubs I have seen it first hand get the ladies to go crazy when it comes on over the speakers. While the people who don't like the song bemoan it every chance they get and say that she has no talent. My reaction is somewhere in between. I don't hate the song nor do I have it on my mp3 playlist. It always seems to bother people when certain pop songs do exactly what they are designed to do become popular! Are there people out there with more talent than her? Most definitely, but don't hate the girl for her own success she has achieved a number one hit and that is an accomplishment to have a song become that much of a sensation.With all of this success and exposure from these two record breaking songs will Ke$ha be able to capitalize and string together hit songs and avoid becoming a one hit wonder like so many have become in the past? Her debut album titled Animal is slated for a January 5th release so we will see if she becomes a mainstay on the music scene.Source:Billboard.com
