Ke$ha on SNL was a Total Disaster

Ke$ha on SNL last night was a total disaster. From the over-the-top, inappropriate costumes, bizarre laser stuff, to the whiny vocals the whole Ke$sha on SNL appearance just didn't work. Ke$ha on SNL last night sang two songs and both performances were contrived attempts to show a unique style that just came across as a Lady GaGa wannabe.

First Ke$ha sang her hit song "Tik Tok" in some superhero jumpsuit with a cape that was lined with the American flag. Was Ke$ha trying to make some attempt at showing her patriotism or trying to create a new singing superhero. Whichever one it was supposed to be - neither one worked. The cappella opened performance occurred in front of her poor back-up dancers and band that looked like they were wearing space suits.

Toward the end of the performance green lasers shot up from the stage and she places her hands over some of them and asked us, ""Did anyone ever stop to think we were the aliens?" Yes Ke$ha, you have us wondering if you are an alien. It just made no sense at all and none of it worked for Ke$ha on SNL last night.

The next song "Your Love Is My Drug," came with another too-tight jumpsuit but this one was tribal complete with glow in the dark paint and feathers. It felt like a bad 80's performance piece. Ke$ha finally had to resort to shouting out to the audience, "Hey, it's Saturday night. Do you want to make out?" Well, I think that answer is no.

And the web is buzzing today with opinions on Ke$ha's SNL performance last night and while it is somewhat divided, most of the responses are typical to these:

One online commenter Wicked Wench said: "European/Australian bands like Angelspit have been doing this valley-talking spiel for years now, to much greater effect. Ki$ha just stole the idea and added bumble-gum pop -UGH!"

Another obvious dissenter Mrs Fuzzybee added: "That was like a flashback to the 80s when Debbie Gibson was putting out crap songs. She sounds a lot like Debbie Gibson ... teenage Debbie Gibson - whiny, grating. Different year same junk.

Ke$ha needs to absorb some of this bad feedback today and somehow stop the references to the Debbie Gibson of the 80's. But that is not going to happen if there are any more performances like the disaster that was Ke$ha on SNL last night.
