Keith Fenimore May Become a Celebrity Without Becoming Famous

Anne Wright
Keith Fenimore wants to get recognized as a celebrity, but he's not trying to become famous. Learn how to go from complete obscurity to reaching over 1.5 million people in two weeks with Keith Fenimore.

Keith Fenimore is a 39 year old senior writer and producer for Howard Stern's TV Network. Until early December, he had no website or Facebook or Twitter accounts. Then, one starry night, keithfenimore.com was born and got over 100,000 hits in its first weeks. As of January 1, he's got almost 500 Twitter followers and about as many Facebook friends. He's also given interviews to over a dozen media outlets including AOL, "The Philadelphia Inquirer," and "The New York Post." Now, he's looking for his first TV interview.

So what drives Keith Fenimore? He says he's experimenting with social and traditional media to see if he can work top down to create the buzz to make him the most recognizable man in America. Notice, he focuses on being recognized and not on being famous. He makes the distinction that famous people are selling something, and they have to have fans that like them to buy the stuff they're selling. Keith Fenimore doesn't ask you to like him. He just wants to use press to get more press until everyone sees his face.

If you're wild to know how to get in on Keith Fenimore's experiment, he's got plenty of suggestions on his website. Unlike one reader at "The Trentonian" I don't want to punch him, but I only got as far as following him on Twitter. But if you get him an interview, he promises to give you a t-shirt. And this is one celebrity who really listens to his supporters. Due to popular demand, he's planning to introduce an "I'm not Keith Fenimore" t-shirt to go with the original "I'm Keith Fenimore" version. This may be useful if he catches on, and everyone starts growing beards to impersonate him.

Personally, I'm resigned to obscurity, and Keith Fenimore's success may have something to do with his media contacts. In addition to working with Howard Stern, he's produced projects for A&E, VH-1 and Fox Reality. Still, if you're tired of challenging causes that require you to do stuff and talk to people, just look at his face and recognize it. Keith Fenimore could become a celebrity without the scandal attached to many reality stars even if he never becomes famous.

Unlike SOME celebrities who are famous for nothing, Keith Fenimore is a supporter of his supporters. Know his face, friend request Keith -

Too many celebrities already. It seems they should have to do something to earn recognition.
