Kellogg's Fiber Plus Chocolate Chip Bars Reviewed

Kellogg's and General Mills have both been trying to outdo one another in the quick move to the healthier snacks that consumers are craving now. With lines such as Special K, Fiber One, and now Fiber Plus, the companies are clearly responding to customer's calls for alternatives to the sugary and very unhealthy foods such as candy bars. Fiber Plus is the newest line from Kellogg's, and the brand was designed to give consumers 35% of their daily fiber intake in one chewy granola bar, while also proving to be a source of antioxidants. Being a big fan of granola bars, I had to give these a try and see for myself.

Kellogg's Fiber Plus Antioxidants Chewy Bars- Chocolate Chip

Fiber Plus Reviewed:

Price- The price of these bars is about what you would expect from most of these types of alternatives to regular candy bars or even regular granola bars. There are only five bars in one box, so realize that you aren't getting a whole lot when you buy them. The wise consumer will definitely keep a close eye out for coupons, since there have been tons of coupons for Fiber Plus Bars in the last few months.

Nutritional value- The Fiber Plus bars are definitely higher in Zinc and Vitamin E than just about any other granola bar, so the antioxidants are certainly there for you. The sugar level is quite tolerable at just 7 grams in one bar, far less than most snacks. The Fiber level of 35% is definitely a nice positive as is the quite low number of just 4 grams of fat. There really isn't anything very negative to report from the nutritional value side of things.

Taste- The chocolate chip Fiber Plus Antioxidant bars are pretty tasty. They taste fairly sweet despite having very little sugar, so if you have a sweet tooth and don't want a lot of sugar these should do well for you. The chocolate topping on the granola bar leaves a little bit of a strange taste in the mouth after eating. I believe it is best described as slightly bitter, which probably comes from the fact that they have cut down on the amout of chocolate. The texture and the taste overall is pretty good.

Overall: The Fiber Plus Chewy Bars are a pretty good snack. The nutritional values are far better than average and the taste is pretty good as well. The bars are a little pricy at full price, but when you use coupons with them they aren't bad at all. If you haven't done so already give this healthy alternative a try!

Cool, I might check 'em out. I can't have much sugar, but adore chocolate.
