Kelly Clarkson Didn't Get Fat - She Got Un-Skinny

Futura Condensed
Recently a bunch of tabloids and other celebrity-skinned magazines featured Kelly Clarkson photos and headlines about how fat she had become.

None of it is true.

Kelly Clarkson didn't get fat (see image 5 from the AI finale), she got un-skinny.

Think back to the first seasons of American Idol, when a happy, average-sized Kelly Clarkson was singing lyrics on the show. She was the size of an an average American woman, with an ample bottom. Some would call her "curvy," or "thick." In the scheme of things, she is average.

Often during American Idol, the cameras would pan away from ample bottom, filming her from the waist up.

After winning American Idol, she went through the Hollywood image machine: she went blond, and she got really thin. While she never pushed her weight as far as Nicole Richie or as the Olsen Twins, who seem to be trying to morph into one 90-pound girl. At one point, Kelly was was definitely "Hollywood Skinny."

The proof is in the fashion photos. Remember that yellow dress a blond Kelly Clarkson wore to an event? (Sorry I couldn't find a photo.)

Or how about that photo of Kelly singing (Image 1)?

Now, in 2007 she has put some of her weight back on, that she had lost before (Image 2 & 3).

The confusion is not our fault, though. Blame magazines like Elle who are Photoshop happy. What happened to Kelly Clarkson's bottom? (Image 4) It's been airbrushed out of existence, at least in print.

Because this is a recent photo of Kelly performing, around the same time the Elle cover hit the newsstands.

No wonder so many young girls suffer, yes suffer from eating disorders. They are not trying to look like celebrities. they are trying to look like Photoshopped facsimiles of celebrities.

No, America, she did not get fat, she got un-skinny. Kelly Clarkson has returned to a weight and size that she was when we met her (again, Image 5). Let the girl sing. After all, that's what everyone voted for, right?
