Kelly Clarkson and Taylor Hicks Release Albums the Same Day

All American Idol Winners to Perform on the Show This Year

American Idol is not only the No. 1 show in America on a weekly basis, it's alumni are no strangers to the top spot on the singles and albums charts. Two former American Idol winners, Kelly Clarkson (Season 1) and Taylor Hicks (Season 5) released new albums Tuesday, March 10.

"All I Ever Wanted": Kelly Clarkson Returns To American Idol

Kelly Clarkson 's new album already has a hit single, "My Life Would Suck Without You." She appeared on the Final 13 episode of American Idol Wednesday evening and chatted with Ryan Seacrest before singing her hit song. He told her he played her song all the time and sang along with it, then he did some kind of bouncy thing while screeching the lyrics in an atrocious falsetto. Good thing he never tried out for American Idol (he would have definitely made the highlight reels with that act).

"My Life Would Suck Without You" peaked at No. 1 and is still enjoying its time in the Top 10 on Billboard's Hot 100 singles chart.

It is a pretty safe bet that her album will debut at No. 1 next week on the Billboard 200. Her first album, "Thankful," peaked at No. 1 back in 2003. Her follow-up albums broke into the Top 5.

Taylor Hicks Ready To Go "The Distance"

According to Fanbolt and his own website, Taylor Hicks has been touring with the musical "Grease," where he plays the part of Teen Angel. Hicks' first single, "Do I Make You Proud," debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. His first album, "Taylor Hicks," was released in December 2006 peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 albums chart and was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in January 2007 (because it shipped 1 million copies). The album has still to sell 1 million copies, giving it the distinction of being the least selling debut album of any of the American Idol winners (and in a reverse way, makes it number one in that regard).

It has been announced that all of the American Idol winners will perform on the show this year, so it is expected that Taylor Hicks will perform something from his new album, "The Distance," which was released on his own independent label, Modern Whomp Records. "What's Right Is Right," the first single from the album, was released to adult contemporary radio in late January and is currently in the Top 30 on the Adult Hot Contemporary Tracks singles chart.

"All I Ever Wanted" is Clarkson's fourth studio album. "The Distance" is Taylor Hicks' second album.

Country Album ? A great move, but lets keep it real ! The soul patrol may be a little upset as Hicks has always been R&B on the surface of things. It's true he may have some country goin on but country blues has always been the rout to most music with an actual melody ! Many a country song has fit the pop scene and visa versa, so for Taylor Hicks to make this move should be well recieved with CMA people. Ray Charles did counrty well and the soulful sounds of Ray worked well. My best to Hicks, hey! The name fits ! LOL

I wondered what Taylor was doing, so thanks for the update. I'm going to link to this article in my next recap, okay?

If you have been trying to purchasing Taylor or Kelly's cd's at Wal-Marts, be patient, it turns out the distributor, Anderson Merchandisers of Amerillo, Tx, overlooked shipping Taylor's and Kelly's cd's to all of the Wal-Mart stores and they should be arriving soon. Sounds like a guy who can't dress but clone himself every week and hates these two people and consults for SonyBMG, could his hands really be that sticky? Just a question, seems like the old proverb, if it looks like a duck, and talks like a duck, it's usually a duck.

I listened to the tunes Taylor Hicks has on his website and they're really good. The first single is simply fantastic. I always like Taylor -- I just didn't think he should have won American Idol. But I wish him well. And I'm going to buy this album. I don't care for Clarkson. I'm not much into pop. She's a great singer but it's nothing I'd listen to in my truck. I'd listen to Taylor Hicks going down the highway...

Taylor's album is wonderful! One track, the bonus track at Target, Indiscriminate Act of Kindness, is in a class by itself. Seek it out, trust me.
