Kempo karate is most commonly known as Kenpo and its one of the most famous form of karate from the West. The most basic technique of Kempo karate is sparring. The sparring makes the student learn and understand the fundamental movements of Kicking and punching techniques. It's often used as self defense, self control or for protection from weapons. In case of self defense, two major techniques of Kempo karate sparring techniques were involved. The first one is called Tuite or grab hand technique, and the other one is known as vital point attacks or the Kyusho Jitsu. These techniques help the students to develop their skills for self defense in variety of threatening situations. Defense against grabs, pushes, punches, holds, kicks, and weapon defenses are the basic self defense techniques involved in Kempo karate. The vital point attacks technique is used to attack the selective points of the nervous and circulatory systems. It can also be used to temporarily disable the opponent. The higher level of Kempo karate sparring techniques are "forms" and "katas". These techniques are used to develop the student's sense of self-awareness and self-expression. The movements involved in this level help the student's develop their reflexes and timing in a controlled environment while engaging in a sports activity.

The advanced and combination technique involves front thrust kick, spinning heel kick.

Shoulder throw, off balance, roundhouse kick, and triple jumping crescent kick.

Kempo karate sparring teaches students how to use weapons.

Mistakes made during Kempo karate sparring:

- Losing their concentration and getting afraid on seeing the size and weight of the opponent.

-Failing to look into the opponent's eyes and failing to protect him or herself.

-Failing to take control of opponent.

Goals of Kempo karate sparring:

-Focus, respect, self discipline and of course self defense.

-Growth and development in marital arts.

-Improving self-esteem and listening abilities.

-Self-control and Self Awareness

Anyone learning Kempo karate sparring will learn how to focus their mind and will have discipline. And will be taught that whatever they learn is only for self defense and not harm others. This will also make them respect the other human beings.

Listening to what the teacher taught will improve their listening skills and also their concentration. Also achieve their goal in learning the art completely and this will increase their self esteem.
