Kennels and Hotels for Dogs in Las Vegas

Treated like Royalty

Drew Bush
Of course, everyone likes to go on a vacation once in a while. It gives you a chance to get away from unwanted stress and you get to unwind. Many of us have pets and we may end up going somewhere where pets are not allowed. You realize that you have to leave your pet in someone else's care. Why not leave them in a place where they can have their own vacation? Here are some great suggestions:

1. Boulder City Animal Hospital

My family and I left our dog Buddy with the kennel at Boulder City Animal Hospital when we were gone for two weeks. We trusted this place because when had been getting his shots and check ups there ever since we've lived here (6 years now). We are really impressed with the service that they give. The staff is extremely friendly and the veterinarian does a great job caring for the animals. When we came back from our trip, Buddy was clean, his nails had been trimmed, and he just looked great. Of course, you can bring all of your dog's favorite toys, his/her own food and treats, and whatever else you want your best friend to have. It is really easy to set up an appointment. Just make sure you do it at least a few days before your planned departure. Boulder City Animal Hospital is located on 700 Nevada Hwy in downtown Boulder City, Nevada. Call (702) 294-0001 to make an appointment and ask for hours of operation and rates.

2. Paws 'n Claws Pet Resort

At Paws 'n Claws guests are treated like royalty. If you leave your dog at this resort, he/she will be treated like the Queen of England. Pets get their own indoor climate controlled quarters and have all day and all night access to an outdoor patio. Your dog will not be cooped up in a small cage. Each dog will have the proper amount of room for their size.

The staff at Paws 'n Claws are well trained and will check your dog several times during their stay. Also, at your request, your dog will receive private park playtime. Your dog will get to run around a 0.5 acre area of grass. Your dog will be provided with premium food, but you can bring your own for a small fee. You can also bring any toys, treats, and whatever else you want your dog to have.

Overnight rates for small dogs (1-30 lbs) are $18, medium dogs (31 to 60 lbs) are $22, large dogs (61-99 lbs) are $26, and extra large dogs (over 100 lbs) are $30 per night. There are small fees for playtime and special care (certain treats or extra feeding). Your dog can also receive vaccinations while there. When you come to get your dog, keep in mind that checkout time is at 12:00 noon. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Sunday from 11:00 to 3:00 p.m. The resort is located at 640 Eastgate Road in Henderson, Nevada (just minutes from Las Vegas and Boulder City). Call (702) 565-PAWS for any questions or concerns of any kind.

3. America Cat and Dog Resort

The America Cat and Dog Resort really does take pampering to a whole new level. Dogs can now enjoy a real hotel experience just like their owners. There is no cage boarding seen here. There is a play area for small and medium sized dogs and another play area for large dogs. All dogs have to pass a temperament test before they can interact with other dogs.

When one looks at the inside of the building, it can be easily mistaken for a hotel for people. There are fancy pictures on the walls, carpeting, and even a chandelier.

After dogs are done playing for the day, they are put into their beautiful private suites. That's right, suites. They are fed dinner as the owner instructed. Day care is provided and there is 24 hour supervision. All of the dogs can play and interact with each other and have a great time. If your dog is not very sociable, he/she can stay in a suite during the day and receive interaction with a play pal.

The resort has its own schedule for its guests. Breakfast begins at 5:30 a.m. Afterwords, the dogs go into an indoor play park to play with their friends. Then the dogs enjoy munching on treats (permission given by owner). Dogs have the option of going back to their suites for lunch and a nap. After some more playtime, all dogs go back to their suites for dinner. After dinner, dogs go to a grassy area and play with the play-pals. Later, all dogs will go back to their suites and have a great night sleep.

There are two locations in the Las Vegas Valley. The east side location is located at 2900 E. Patrick Lane Suite 4B and the west side location is located at 6810 W. Sahara Avenue. For information on rates, hours, and whatever else crosses your mind, call (702) 795-3647 (east side) or (702) 777-3647 (west side).
