Kennesaw, GA is really not a suburb of Atlanta. It's too far away at 23.5 miles north of Atlanta, and 4.5 miles from Marietta. But many people would prefer to drive for a half hour to reach work than to live in a big city that has crime and congestion. Not a few people live in Kennesaw and work either in Atlanta or Marietta. The median income here is just over $60,000 and the median house value is $134,600. The estimated population for 2005 was just above 30,000 people, so this town is just small enough to have a small town feel with all the convenience of large town amenities. Lots of building has gone on in this town in the last decade to accommodate people relocating to Atlanta for work who just did not want to put up with the hastles and stress of big city living. . Three medical facilities are very nearby. The school system in Kennesaw is supposed to be quite good. The percentage of people renting here is well below that of Atlanta, which means that this community is really one of property owners. Kennesaw has good businesses and many state and national banks.

There were 619 homes listed in the $100,000 to $200,000 price range.
One listing in this price range is $193,900 for a 3 bd., 2.5 ba. home. Amenities include 9 ft.. ceilings, two car garage, breakfast area with bar, laundry area, security features an whirlpool in bath in a lake area on over 1/3 acre. Another was listed for $200,000 with a swimming pool with private back yard and deck. It's in a lake setting also and has a fireplace, pantry and upstairs laundry room.

In the higher price ranges I found many incredibly attractive homes.
A 4 bd., 3.5 ba, for $325,000, two-story traditional with two car garage and amenities.
4 bd., 2.5 ba for $314,900 traditional with landscaping and a swimming pool

In even higher price ranges the quality of homes is truly astounding. Many of these are estate homes on good acreage. A 4 bd., 3.5 ba. Traditional home for $459,900 with 9 ft. ceilings, zoned temperature control, full basement, library, full basement, two-story foyer, and walk-in closets, a deck, a wooded private back yard with huge trees and located on just under 3/4 acre. It's a Tudor-style with hardwood floors, a two-car garage, spa bath in master, a fireplace, 10'+ ceilings, full basement, recreation room, and screened patio on a wooded lot between 1 and 2 acres.
