Kennywood is close to Pittsburgh at 4800 Kennywood Boulevard West Mifflin, Pennsylvania. Kennywood has lots of rides and lots of good rides but one thing that is great about Kennywood is that it has lots of old rides from its past that it still keeps and sometimes updates instead of tearing down. In fact, one of the three themed areas of Kennywood is Lost Kennywood and celebrates the old rides and gives guests a chance to ride them in their glory.
Lost Kennywood has some great old classic rides. The Whip is an old simple classic that has been around a long time. The park has lots of rides that could actually fit in the area but are not here but in other parts of the park. One of the two best old rides in the park are the Noah's Ark ride which were popular in the 1920s but now there are only two in the world. The current Noah's Ark has been updated and is much more exciting. There is also an old tunnel of love ride that is the parks oldest but has been updated to a Garfield ride. I prefer the older scary version of the tunnel of love they had.
Kiddieland is another themed area. Kidieland has lots of smaller versions of Kennywood favorites. Local kids remember their first trip on the Auto Race. There is even a kiddie merry go round here. This is a much bigger kid area then most parks and kids will love it.
Volcano Valley is the newest land and features the popular coaster Volcano. King Kahuna can also be found here.
The Jack Rabbit and the Racer are old roller coasters from the 1920s that are still popular today. The Racer is one of the only racing roller coasters of its kind. They do have lots of new roller coaster too though such as the new Sky Rocket and Phantom's Revenge.
They have lots of standard rides like the Pirate ship and Paratropper. Ghostwood Estates is a fairly new haunted house attraction which is lots of fun as you get to use guns and shoot targets. There are also one of each major water style ride from a log flume to a rapids ride.
Kennywood is one of the best theme parks in the world with some of the best rides. Kennywood is especially great for its old rides. Kennywood has lots of great rides for the entire family. Kennywood is a must see if you are in the Pittsburgh area.
