This Kentucky tourism spot has been around since 1939, and although it is known for the country music performances, it also features comedy, festivals, plays, and festivals. Annual shows and festivals include The Bluegrass Festival in May with three days of bluegrass music. In September, Renfro Valley hosts the Fiddler's Festival with two days of people gathering to play the fiddle, and October brings the Appalachian Harvest Festival, which lasts for three days and includes many activities like a wagon train, crafts, an antique tractor display, live entertainment and a country music talent search. From November through December, there is a Christmas festival known as Christmas in the Valley and it features a holiday musical show that features the entire cast of Renfro Valley entertainers with music and comedy, making for an attractive holiday Kentucky tourism spot.
Through out the year from March through December, there is a set schedule for Renfro Valley shows including "Tickle Your Funny Bone" every Saturday at 1 pm and the "Renfro Valley Gatherin'" every Sunday at 8:30 am, which is followed by a non-denominational church service.
Aside from the locally produced shows, this Kentucky tourism spot has an impressive calendar of special events through out the year that boasts talent searches, car shows, clogging celebrations, gospel music, reenactments, and national well known country musicians such as Merle Haggard, Tanya Tucker, Billy Ray Cyrus and others.
Renfro Valley also has other features that make it a nice Kentucky tourism spot to visit. There are several forms of lodging at a motel, log cabins or in a full service RV park. There is a museum, a shopping village, a country church and meeting facilities.
The Renfro Valley facility has made some major upgrades in years past. They boast a completely digital recording studio that allows for 32 track recording, mixing and mastering. The recording area is 1200 square feet with three isolation booths. There is a separate lounge for artists and a 30 foot by 40 foot open stage available for live recording. Renfro Valley produces and broadcasts their own radio show and has worked with an array of artists to produce radio spots and cds. Renfro Valley also puts out a newspaper called the "Renfro Valley Bugle" which allows people to stay informed of shows, events, concerts, enjoy columns and stay up to date on what's going on.
